We've got a few spaces still for our 'On Track Training' this Saturday morning - 10am-11am - at our fully enclosed training area in Preston Park. These classes are great for Focus and Impulse Control - Here's the link with all the information:

If your dog no longer takes much notice of you (on lead or off lead) when you're out on your walks - These classes are Perfect for you!

It's always great to have some positive feedback - here's an email I received yesterday, further to our 3 puppy training sessions with their lovely cockapoo pup. These clients are both experienced dog owners, but understandably, when you've lived for years with an older/calmer adult dog, going through puppyhood again is quite an eye-opener which feels A LOT! So it's great to get some support, to help set the pups up for success from the off!
**Here's what they said - "Hi Kate, Thank you so much for the detailed advice. All of the sessions with you have been extremely useful for us and of course Reggie. We have definitely seen improvements in Reggie thanks to the advice and training you have given us. We will be using all the helpful tips you have provided, so once again thank you for providing such positive, relaxed and patient training sessions."

ANOTHER 5-STAR REVIEW! - Sorry, but I'm always so delighted to get such lovely, heartwarming feedback from a client, when I've steered them back on track. We always look at the all-essential mutual understanding and communication, because just like us, dogs have feelings, so we always need to look at things from their perspective, so that we can help them feel more positive at their most challenging times, so that they can progress and learn most effectively.

*Here's the review I received this morning:
"I can thoroughly recommend Kate as an excellent dog trainer. Kate has helped us training our anxious Cockapoo puppy and we are so delighted with his progress. We have had three 1 on 1 training sessions with Kate which have been amazing, not just for our puppy but also really helpful for us to understand why our puppy behaves in a certain way. Kate is extremely knowledgeable and has offered us such good advice and training tips. Our puppy has really progressed and is now much more confident and obedient!! And he absolutely loves his training sessions with Kate. Thank you Kate!"

This is such an important reminder not to just pet a dog without their permission - dogs and puppies don't always like being touched, picked up or petted in anyway by strangers, so we shouldn't force ourselves upon them. They experience emotions just like you do, therefore perhaps think about whether you'd like a total stranger coming along and hugging you or touching you, you'd probably be feeling incredibly stressed! So, just because you might want to pick up a cute pup, doesn't mean you should.

Dogs are not public property. Don't touch someone else's dog without the DOG''s consent.

I’ve just had a lovely text this morning from a client I visited in January - Mowgli was struggling after a house move and also was declining cognitively. On further investigation, it was clear that there seemed to be a breakdown in communication generally - so we peeled back the layers and I helped them see things from his point of view, highlighting that his behaviour was an expression of how he was feeling emotionally, rather than him being defiant or such like. We looked at ways to help set him up for success, by always communicating clearly with him at the key times. We aimed to make sure that in his most challenging situations/scenarios, he wasn’t left to stress or feel overwhelmed (which lead to unwanted behaviours), but instead we supported him and guided him clearly, to help him realise that those situations/scenarios were in fact of no consequence to him. Here’s the message I received: “Dear Kate, I just wanted to send a heart felt thank you for your session. I can't put into words how valuable it was. We have integrated most of your training tips and we are all so much happier. It's just wonderful, thank you”.
