In the silent house, I listen for your familiar sounds—only echoes of memory answer.
My arms are empty, but you still fill my heart.

In golden afternoon light, you lay content at my side.
On quiet nights, your presence brought peace to my soul.
You filled my world with laughter and unconditional love.
Now your memory is a warm blanket on the cold nights of your absence.

I tell people I’m fine, but the truth is every corner of my day still calls your name.
The morning light falls on the empty spot where you used to stretch. The quiet at night feels heavier without the sound of your paws circling for sleep.

Grief doesn’t arrive as one storm—it lingers as little shadows: reaching for the leash that isn’t there, saving a bite of food before I remember the bowl is gone, catching myself listening for your bark when the gate creaks.

You weren’t “just a pet.” You were my rhythm, my comfort, my laughter in the still hours. You were home in a way four walls could never be.

People think time heals. What time really does is teach me to carry you differently—inside stories, inside smiles you’ll never see, inside the quiet courage you left me.

If love had been enough, you’d still be here. And maybe in some way you are—written in pawprints across my heart, glowing like constellations guiding me forward.

You think the house is empty now,
but look again—I’m here somehow.
Not in the way you’d hope or guess,

The couch still holds my favorite spot,
the blankets warm where I once got.
The window sill, the sunlit beams,
they hold me still inside your dreams.

You set my bowl, then stop midway,
forgetting that I’ve gone away.
Yet even so, I see you pause,
your hand still reaching just because.

I never left, not truly so,
my love is here, it’s soft, it glows.
So when you feel a gentle breeze,
know it’s my pawprints—you just can’t see.
