Rupert came in for a full groom today 😃

I think we can all agree that Rupert is bloody gorgeous 🥹 he’s a cocker spaniel pup who visited my parlour briefly a little while ago for a puppy groom. Today it was time for his first big boy groom!

After a plethora of cuddles from yours truly, I eventually gave Rupert a warm and soapy bath with some aloe vera shampoo & conditioner 🧼 Rupert was unsure at first, but he actually settled very quickly and began to relax in there 🙂

Once he was all rinsed off, I wrapped Rupert in a fluffy towel and began drying him with the standing dryer and a slicker brush 🙂 the dryer is Rupert’s nemesis, he isn’t that keen, but again he settled quite quickly and began looking out the window to distract himself ☀️ I owe the birds outside a big thankyou for the distraction 🐦

It was now officially time to Rupert’s haircut 😃 so I grabbed my clippers fit with a 5f blade and began trimming his body. Rupert’s coat is absolutely beautiful, and underneath all that length were some beautiful colours. I used my scissors to trim up his legs and paws, as well as removing some length from his ears. Rupert did really well 😃 he took his first big boy haircut in his stride, and got used to it pretty quickly. I left his head hair quite long at his owners request, and after about an hour and a quarter he was all done! 😃 I gave Rupert a few sprays of some doggie cologne before contacting his owner for pickup! 🚗

I firmly believe it’s impossible to meet Rupert and not completely fall in love with him 🥹 he’s so dang adorable, and he has the friendliest nature that is just so endearing. A huge thankyou to Dani for bringing him to me today 👏 I hope you’re happy with his groom!

I look forward to seeing Rupert when he next needs a haircut!

Pickles came in for a full groom today 😃

Pickles is a beautiful brown show cocker who I’ve had the pleasure of grooming for well over a year now 😃 he’s very docile, and incredibly friendly. It’s impossible to not find this dog endearing 🥲 today I couldn’t wait to give him a good pamper!

Pickles seemed to really relax in his bath today 🧼 he had a lovely warm wash with some aloe vera scented shampoo & conditioner. Watching him relax with the water on his head was really nice to see 🙂 it was a shame that I had to get him out for drying really, but once the fluffy towel was wrapped around him he was ready to leave the bath 😄

Upon exiting the bath, I gave Pickles a quick towel dry before using the standing dryer to dry him 🙂 I also used a slicker brush to give him a good brush as he dried. Pickles doesn’t mind the dryer really, even when I was trying to dry his head he wasn’t too bothered.

Once he was all dry, it was time to give Pickles his regular haircut 🙂 that’s a reverse clip of a 3 blade (which is the equivalent of a 5f along the grain). I also used my scissors to tidy up his feet, though Pickles isn’t very keen on this part, so I did what I could. Pickles stood so nicely for me as I gave him a trim, I was so proud of him 🥲 he looked so neat and tidy after his groom.

As a finishing touch, I sprayed Pickles with some doggie cologne and fit him with a good boy bow tie for his collar 🎀 before contacting his owner for pickup! 🚗

It’s always lovely seeing Pickles 😃 he’s become my little buddy! Such a good doggo, with a lovely temperament 🥰 I can’t help but adore him. A huge thankyou to his owner Hannah for bringing him to me today, it really does mean a lot 👏

I look forward to seeing Pickles again when he next needs a groom!

Bertie came for a full groom today 😃

Bertie is a gorgeous wire haired daschund who I’ve been grooming for a while now 😃 I absolutely love him to pieces, he’s such a lovely doggo. Today I couldn’t wait to give him a good pamper!

First up, after some mandatory cuddles and fuss obviously, I put Bertie in the dog bath and gave him a wash using some raspberry scented shampoo & conditioner 🍇 this left Bertie smelling beautiful & fruity! He always has a good sit down in the bath, I think he kind of enjoys it 😄

Drying Bertie doesn’t take too long as his coat type doesn’t hold much moisture 😃 so after a short drying session with the standing dryer he was ready for his haircut! I did get a lot of doggo kisses during this stage 😂 Bertie was a little hyper being dried. I was cracking up laughing at him. 😄

It was now time for Bertie’s trim, so I grabbed my clippers and my scissors and gave him his haircut! Bertie likes to sit down during his grooms, so I did have to stand him up a few times which he didn’t really approve of 😂 I got a few teenage grumps and humphs! After his haircut though, Bertie looked nice and tidy 🙂 so I tied a good boy bow tie to his collar, sprayed him with some doggie cologne and got him ready for pickup! 🚗

I always love seeing Bertie 😊 he perfectly sums up why I love dogs so much. They all have their own personality, their own individual character, and they’re just the most wonderful companions. Bertie is full to the brim of personality and I always love grooming him. He’s a real pleasure to have in the parlour.

Herbie came in for a full groom today 😃

Herbie is a beautiful border terrier who I’ve had the pleasure of grooming for a couple of years now 😃 Herbie was in fact the first dog I officially groomed as a self employed dog groomer, and he’ll always be very close to my heart for that reason (and also as he’s so dang adorable!)

When it comes to Herbie’s grooms, I usually handstrip his coat, however in recent times he had been experiencing some skin issues. As a result, Herbie’s owner and I decided some scissor work would be best moving forward.

So after some welcome cuddles, I put Herbie on the grooming table and I grabbed my slicker brush, and some thinning scissors, and got to work! I brushed his Herbie’s hair up against the grain, and then used my thinning scissors to shorten the length a little. I did this all over to tidy up his fur up a little.

Once Herbie was all trimmed and tidy, I plonked him in the bath and gave him a wash using some medicated shampoo provided by his owner 🙂 he didn’t seem to mind this at all, in fact I think he welcomed the relaxation time. I washed him twice, rinsed him off, and then prepared him for drying. This didn’t take too long, as Herbie’s hair is quite wiry and doesn’t hold as much moisture as other coats. With my standing dryer and my slicker brush, he was dry in no time!

As a finishing touch, I put a little bow tie on Herbie’s collar, and then it was time for pickup! 🚗

I love this dog 🥲 he’s such a sweetheart. Herbie is always such a friendly face to groom. He never misbehaves, he has a wonderful temperament when being groomed, and is always very cooperative. It’s good to see him doing so well 🥰 a huge thankyou to Herbie’s owner Emma for bringing him today, I really appreciate it 👏

Duke came in for a bath, dry and de-shed today 😃

I absolutely love Duke. He’s a beautiful brown Labrador who has visited my parlour a few times before 😃 he’s so lovely & I always enjoy giving him his groom. Today I couldn’t wait to see him and give him a good wash!

Today Duke had a relaxing, warm wash with some raspberry scented shampoo and conditioner 🍇 He stood so nicely in the bath and let me turn him round to wash his other side without issue 😃 he really enjoyed the warm water on his chest and seemed ever so relaxed. It was lovely to see…..then he shook and soaked me….so…..that part wasn’t fun 😂

Once Duke was all rinsed off, I wrapped him in a fluffy towel and plonked him over onto the grooming table. I then fit him with a happy hoodie, and dried him using my standing dryer and my drying blaster. Duke stood so nicely on the table, letting me dry him throughly all over. I did let him sit down when I could though, so that he didn’t get too tired. 😴

Most of Duke’s undercoat was blown out with the blaster during the drying phase 🙂 but there are always quite a few stubborn hairs that stay around with Labradors. So I grabbed my furminator tool and brushed Duke thoroughly to ensure his coat was smooth and free of stray hairs. Duke seemed to really enjoy this part 😄 I think he finds it quite satisfying. He had a big smile on his face as I was brushing his chest.

As I finished brushing his beautiful shiny coat, I added a finishing touch of some fruity doggie cologne, and then let him have a little wander in the back garden before pickup! 🚗

It’s always so lovely seeing Duke and his owner Daxa 🙂 Thankyou so much for coming today.

Duke is such a delight to groom. He’s never any trouble, and is one of the friendliest & affectionate dogs I groom. I absolutely adore him. 🩵

Norman came in for a full groom today 😃

Norman is a beautiful black mixed breed who has been coming to my parlour for a while now. I absolutely adore him, and it’s so lovely to see his feelings towards grooming change 🙂 he used to be quite anxious about it, but these days he’s so laid back on the grooming table. Today I couldn’t wait to see my little friend and give him his regular haircut.

First up, I gave Norman a warm bath using some shampoo specifically designed for black fur 🧼 it smells delicious, and Norman behaved so well in the bath! He smelled lovely afterwards, and when he was all rinsed off, I wrapped him in a fluffy yellow towel and got him ready for drying.

To dry Norman I used my standing dryer and my slicker brush 🙂 I then fit him with a black happy hoodie to insulate the noise and Norman chilled whilst I dried him. I was belting out some Whitney Houston at this point so I bloody hope that hoodie was well padded….

Once Norman was all dry and fluffy it was time for his trim, so I grabbed my scissors and my clippers (fit with a 30 blade and a comb attachment) and I gave him his haircut 🙂 I usually take Norman quite short, which is fitting for the turnaround we’re having with weather. He looked so handsome afterwards and he behaved perfectly. He never caused any fuss or showed any signs of anxiousness. I’m very proud of Norman. 😊

As a finishing touch, I sprayed Norman with some doggie cologne and got him ready for pickup! 🚗

Norman is always a pleasure to have around 🥰 he was so happy in the back garden after his groom, having a sniff around and exploring. I can’t wait to see him again when he next needs a groom.

Dolly came in for a full groom today 🙂

Dolly is a beautiful black shihtzu who has struggled with poor health over the last few months 😢 as a result it’s been a while since I groomed her. Luckily she is now feeling a lot better so it’s time to give this little beauty a good pamper! 🥰

First up, I gave Dolly a warm relaxing wash using some new shampoo I just bought. It it made especially for black and darker coloured coats, with various nourishing properties. It smelled amazing, and Dolly seemed to like the smell too 🙂 she was such a good girl whilst being washed, I think she enjoyed a good soak.

Once Dolly was all rinsed off, I wrapped her in a fluffy towel and fit her with a happy hoodie. I then used my standing dryer to dry her which seemed to lull her to sleep 😴 I did have to move her about a little bit to ensure she was completely dry, but this didn’t seem to bother her 😄 it didn’t interrupt her siesta!

Drying Dolly didn’t take too long. It was then time to grab my clippers and my scissors and give her a haircut 😃 she did so well standing for me. She let me trim her without any issues, and she looked absolutely beautiful afterwards.

It was a pleasure seeing Dolly today 😃 I’m delighted that her health has improved. I really hope she continues to thrive. I look forward to seeing her again when she next needs a haircut.

Betsy came in for a full groom today 😃

Betsy is a beautiful black mixed breed who visited my parlour for the first time today. Betsy has sadly become incredibly nervous when it comes to being groomed lately 😢 her owner Abi believes she may have gotten hurt at a previous groomers, or maybe spooked. So today it was imperative that I give Betsy a positive experience to help her combat this anxiety.

I took today’s groom steady and slow 🙂 I first introduced Betsy and her owner to my cabin to help familiarise her with the new surroundings. I wasn’t in any rush to get started, as I wanted to make sure Betsy was comfortable and calm. When she settled down a little, it was time for Betsy’s owner to say goodbye for a little while whilst I prepare the dog bath 🧼 I then gave Betsy a nice warm bath with some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner 🙂 she did so well! She stood nicely and even seemed to enjoy the warm water. I was really happy with how this went.

Once Betsy was all rinsed, I fit her with a happy hoodie and got to work with the standing dryer 🙂 Betsy was a little apprehensive, but she settled very quickly. She laid down, and let me brush her without any issues whatsoever. I was so proud of how calm she was. I was sure to give her encouragement and fuss whenever I could.

Now that the prep was done; it was time to give Betsy her haircut 😃 I won’t keep you guessing, Betsy did amazingly well! I used my clippers, trimmers and my scissors, and despite her nervousness we got through it together. I was so proud of her afterwards 🥲 I couldn’t wait to tell her owner how she did. This was a huge step for Betsy.

Betsy is more than welcome back anytime 🙂 it was lovely meeting her and her owner today. She has already made such good progress with her anxiety. I hope she’s now at home having a good rest! A huge thankyou to Betsy’s owner Abi for bringing her to me today 🙂 I really appreciate it. I look forward to seeing you both soon when Betsy next needs a trim.

Reggie came in for a full groom today 😃

Today I welcomed Reggie to my parlour for the very first time 🙂 his owner notified me that he has a tendency to get quite nervous when it comes to grooming, so it was really important to me to make this a positive experience for him.

First up, after some cuddles and some fuss, I gave Reggie a wash using some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner 🧼 he smelled absolutely beautiful afterwards, and I was really impressed with how he took this phase in his stride.

Once Reggie was all clean and rinsed off, I wrapped him in a fluffy towel and fit him with a happy hoodie. This helps insulate the noise of the dryer, with the hope of reducing any anxiety or nervousness 🙂 this is the part I was most apprehensive about, but I was so impressed with Reggie! He was a little afraid, but with some encouragement, some cuddles and some yummy treats he got through it! I was so proud of him! 🥲 I made sure to tell his owner how brave he was.

For Reggie’s haircut, I grabbed my clippers and fit them with a comb attachment and began giving this boy his trim. I used my scissors to tidy up his legs and paws, and also to take some length off his tail and face. Again Reggie was a little nervous, but he responded so well to encouragement 🙂 I made sure to give him a couple of treats as a reward and he stood on the table like a good boy looking out the window at the birds.

I’m feeling very proud of Reggie today 🩵 it’s always so rewarding when you’re able to give a dog who struggles with grooming a more positive experience. This to me is more important than giving them the perfect groom, I don’t want any dog to feel afraid here. I fit Reggie with a cute little bow tie, and sprayed him with some doggie cologne to finish his groom, and then I let him have a run around the garden before pickup.

Archie and Bruno came in for full grooms today 😃

Archie & Bruno are two beautiful cockapoo brothers who I’ve had the pleasure of grooming a couple of times now 🙂 they’re such lovely doggos, and are a lot of fun to have around. Today it was time to give them their regular haircuts!

Archie and Bruno had a good soak in the bath to start off their grooms 😃 I used some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner which left them smelling beautiful! Bruno’s bath was first, and then I bathed Archie once Bruno’s haircut was finished. They both behaved so well whilst being washed! Archie was looking everywhere for Bruno when he was in the bath 😂 the wally!

After their baths I then grabbed my standing dryer and my slicker brush and gave them a good brushing as they dried. This eliminates any curls or knots that may be present and also prepares their coat for the clippers 🙂 they both got quite sleepy during this phase which was really cute 😄 once they were dried it was then time for their cuts!

I trim Archie and Bruno’s coats with a 7f blade 🙂 so I grabbed my clippers and gave them their haircuts leaving their fur nice and short. I then blended with my thinners and trimmed their paws so they were looking neat and tidy. I then took some length off their tails and their faces, trimming away any hairs that were obstruction their eyeline. Both Archie & Bruno were absolute stars during their haircuts 🥲 I’m so proud of how quickly they’ve gotten used to me grooming them.

I absolutely love these boys 🥲 Archie is beautifully crazy and hyper and Bruno is so affectionate and laid back. It always amazes me how dogs can vary so much in personality 😃 I adore them both! Archie and Bruno are always a delight to groom; and they always keep me smiling!

Bonnie came in for a full groom today 😃

I absolutely love Bonnie 😄 she’s like a big kid in the body of a cocker spaniel. She’s got such a vibrant personality, and is always good fun to have in the parlour. Today it was time for her regular groom!

Before her groom, Bonnie had a little run around the back garden 🪴 she was doing all sorts of forward rolls in excitement 😂 I then gave her a good wash with some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner. She’s a star in the bath, for a doggo that’s so excitable she really relaxes in there.

Once she was all rinsed off, I fit Bonnie-Bon-Bon with a happy hoodie and began drying her with my blaster and standing dryer. Her eyes were very heavy during this stage 😴 luckily she doesn’t care about the driers, she’s very laid back being dried. Gold star for Bonnie! ⭐️

For her cut, I grabbed my clippers and reverse clipped her with a 3 blade. I then used a 5f to trim up those hard to reach spots! Bonnie’s paw hair grows significantly quicker than her body, so I grabbed a 7f blade and took them a bit shorter. Bonnie hates having her paws trimmed, so it’s just a case of doing what I can (though she is getting a lot better). The more she gets used to me trimming them the more I’ll be able to groom them to make them look more polished and neat 🙂

To finish her groom I gave Bonnie a good ear clean and sprayed her with some doggie cologne. After a little run around the garden again it was then time for pickup! 🚗

Bonnie is such a lovable dog 🥰 she has such a fun character to her, and it’s always a pleasure having her in the parlour. I look forward to seeing her again soon when she next needs a haircut.

Lionel & Lexi came in for full grooms today 😃
PS - apologies for the awful photography, I was not on form today! 😂

Lionel (the Yorkshire Terrier) and his sister Lexi (Jack Russell Terrier) made their first trips to my parlour today 😃 I couldn’t wait to meet them and give them a good pamper!

First up was Lexi 🙂 I gave her a nice warm bath with some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner, and then dried her briefly with the standing dryer. She wasn’t too keen on the dryer, but she warmed up to me quite quickly so I was able to calm her down quite swiftly 🙂 I then used my clippers to give her a quick trim. It was then time for Lexi to have a little rest whilst I give Lionel his groom!

Like his sister, I gave Lionel a relaxing warm bath with baby powder shampoo & conditioner 🧼 he really seemed to like this, especially when I conditioned him as his fur turned very silky! I then dried him using my standing dryer and gave him a good brush with my slicker brush. I then grabbed my clippers and my scissors and gave him a smart little haircut! Lionel looked completely different after his groom, and Lexi couldn’t wait to say hi to him once I lifted him off the table.

I sprayed both Lionel & Lexi with some doggie cologne, before letting them have a wander around the back garden to unwind before pickup! 🚗

Lovely lovely lovely doggos 🥲 Lionel and Lexi did so well today. Lexi was quite nervous but we made good friends quite quickly, and it was lovely having little cuddles with her. Lionel did brilliantly, and underwent quite the transformation!

Ernie came in for a handstrip today 😃

Ernie is an incredible cute and lovable wire-haired Jack Russell who is back at my parlour today for his regular handstrip 😃 he is a beautiful soul, and I couldn’t wait to see my little buddy.

First up, after the complimentary cuddles of course, I plonked Ernie on the table and grabbed my handstripping knives 😃 it alll sounds rather violent but I promise you it’s not 😂 Ernie is very much used to being handstripped, so he isn’t intimidated by any of the equipment. He stood so nicely for me, and would occasionally jump up for cuddles and kisses 🥲 good ol’Ernie!

Handstripping is quite time consuming, but it’s also quite satisfying 😃 once I got as much of the undercoat out as I could, I grabbed my thinning scissors and tidied up his hair a little more, trimming any wispy bits that I could spot. Once this was done, it was time to prepare for Ernie’s bathtime! 😃

To finish up Ernie’s groom, I gave him a bath using some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner 🧼 which left him smelling beautiful! I then dried him with the standing dryer and sprayed him with some doggie cologne to finish. He smelt amazing afterwards!
I then let Ernie explore the back garden 🪴 and have a run around until it was time for pickup! 🚗

It’s always such a pleasure grooming Ernie 🥲 he’s a lovely doggo, and it’s always great seeing him! He was running around so playfully in the garden after his groom 😄 bouncing around like a little lamb. An all-round delight to groom! 🩵

Leia came in for a full groom today 😃

Hi, hello and happy Monday everyone 😃 I hope you’re all doing well! Today, Leia the Schnoodle came in for a full groom! I absolutely love this doggo, so I couldn’t wait to get started and give her a good trim!

First up; after a barrage of cuddles from yours truly, I put Leia in the bath and gave her a relaxing, warm bath using some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner 🧼 Leia seemed to really enjoy her bath today 😃 she’s always really good at having her head washed too!

If there’s one thing you should know about Leia, it’s that she loves a blow dry! When I was drying her with my standing dryer, she kept moving so her head was under it 😄 I’ve never known a dog that likes having their head dried, most just tolerate it. Sadly though, drying Leia doesn’t take that long as he hair is super silky!

Once Leia was dry, it was time to put away her favourite toy (the standing dryer) and get to work on her haircut. I grabbed my clippers and my scissors and got to work 🙂 Leia was a little restless today, she kept trying to climb me for cuddles which was incredibly cute 😂 I managed to get her hair trimmed in no time! Once she was done, I sprayed her with some doggie cologne and got her ready for pickup! 🚗

Leia is always a delight to have in the parlour 🥰 she’s very affectionate, and seems to love her cuddles. She’s never any trouble, and grooming her is always a treat!

Poppy came in for a full groom today 😃

Poppy is a beautiful brown & white wire-haired Jack Russell who I’ve had the pleasure of grooming for a while now. She’s a lot of fun to have around and always has a big smile on her face 😊 so I was really looking forward to seeing her and giving her a pamper!

First up it was time to give Princess Pop a good wash in the bath. Today I used some baby powder scented shampoo & conditioner, which smells absolutely divine 👌 Poppy seems to enjoy her baths here 😃 she stands so nicely and just lets me get on with it.

As Poppy is a wire-haired dog she doesn’t take too long to dry 😃 I fit Poppy with a happy hoodie to insulate the noise, and together with my standing dryer and soft-pin brush she was all dry in no time!

Once Poppy was dry, I grabbed my clippers and gave her a good trim! Poppy stood so nicely for me today, and didn’t seem phased by any of the grooming shenanigans! I used my scissors to tidy up her feet and her head, and then blended them with my thinners. Poppy’s haircut didn’t take too long 🙂 and she looked so neat and tidy afterwards. After a quick spray of some doggie cologne as a finishing touch, it was then time to contact her owners for pickup! 🚗

Sparky came in for a puppy trim today 😃

Sparky is a beautiful cavapoo puppy who visited my parlour for the second time today for his second puppy trim 😃 I had such a good time giving Sparky his first groom back in January, so I couldn’t wait to have him back today.

First up, it was time to wash Sparky in the bath 🧼 I used some aloe vera shampoo and conditioner today which really helped bring the fluffy texture out in his coat. Sparky was so good in the bath 😃 he wasn’t phased, and even sat down for most of it.

I was so surprised last time I groomed Sparky as he wasn’t at all intimidated by the standing dryer 😃 and today was no different! I put a happy hoodie on him, turned on the dryer and got to work with my slicker brush. In the meantime Sparky had a little siesta! 😴

I was originally going to clip Sparky today, however I changed my mind last minute and decided on another puppy trim. He still has that beautiful puppy coat with such a fluffy texture, and I ideally want him to keep that for as long as he can. Also, Sparky’s owner does like him on the longer side which solidified my decision. So as a result I grabbed my thinning scissors and gave him a little trim. Sparky was absolutely brilliant 😃 he really wasn’t bothered at all. Once he was all trimmed, I sprayed him with some doggie cologne and got him ready for pickup! 🚗

I love this dog so much 😂 Sparky behaves so well, and really isn’t phased by much. His laid back demeanour makes grooming a lot easier, and he’s so friendly and affectionate which really makes me smile.
