Just Pawing About is 9 today! 🎉💚

Today feels like the perfect moment to pause and reflect on the journey so far, and to say a truly heartfelt thank you to every single person who has supported Just Pawing About over the years. This little business simply wouldn't be where it is today without your trust, encouragement, and support 💚

This past year has been one of the most challenging we've faced. From navigating Marla's cancer journey to saying goodbye to some wonderful doggies who had been part of our walking family for so long, it has been an emotional and difficult time. As our focus shifted fully to Dog Training, there were many changes along the way, and through it all, your kindness, patience, and support have meant more than I can put into words 💚

I'm incredibly grateful for every client, every dog, every recommendation, every message of support, and every person who has been part of our journey. You have helped keep us going through both the highs and the lows 💚

As we celebrate 9 years of Just Pawing About, I'm excited to see what the next chapter brings and look forward to continuing to help dogs and their humans for many years to come 💚

With Weather potentially due to be warmer over the next couple of days, here's some advice how to keep your dogs safe during the warm spells & how to get rid of that extra energy whilst avoiding walks when it's too hot outside for them 🌞🐶

If you want more ideas on how to keep your dogs entertained without walking during the hot temperatures, feel to drop us a message 🐶

If your dog is overheating, follow these steps:
🐾 Get them out of direct sunlight
🐾 Cool Gradually using room temp water, focus around their neck, belly, armpits & paws where the fur is the thinnest. Do Not use ice cold water as it can their body to go into shock & blood vessels to constrict.
🐾 If possible provide airflow with a fan pointed towards them.
🐾 Hydrated with small amounts of cool water. Don't force them to drink.
🐾 Watch for Shivering, if shivering occurs stop the cooling process immediately to prevent their body temp from dropping too low.
🐾 Contact your Vet, heatstroke is fatal & can cause multiple organ failure.
🐾 Transport with ac on to keep them cool avoid leaving them in the car alone.

What to avoid:
🐾 Never use ice water or ice packs to cool them down.
🐾 Do not cover them with a wet towel as this can actually raise their body temperature.
🐾 Do not muzzle your dog as panting is their way of natually cooling down.

Signs to watch out for:
🐾 Heavy, uncontrolled panting & drooling
🐾 Glazed eyes
🐾 Lethargic or lack of coordination
🐾 Bright red, pale or purple gums
🐾 Vomiting, Diarrhoea or Collapsing

Thursday's 1-1's 🐶

🐾 Kingsley 💜
Kingsley had his refresher 1-1 session today for reactivity & made a huge step! He was joined with Marla, who's been joining him for a quite a few sessions now. However, today he sniffed her & then continue on his walk without any reaction 💜

🐾 Beaux 🩵
Beaux had a little step back last week due to how busy traffic was due to events which was expected. However, during his session we were working on all aspects of the stimulus that are his trigger for nerves & excitement & he done brilliantly 🩵

🐾 Flossie 🩷
Flossie made huge improvements today working on her triggers, we striped back all of our training making it a lot more easier for her & her owner which was the key to success for her! We spent the session really focusing on her triggers & teaching a new behaviour over reacting & she was catching on brilliantly towards the end 🩷

🐾 Ripley 💚
Ripley had her first Puppy 1-1 & was smashing her exercises that we covered during her session. Her owner has already covered quite a bit prior to myself calling out! Today we focused on some recall exercises that she took to very quickly & a few of the foundations 💚
