We had to say goodbye to our wonderful friend and very special goat Edgar (Eddie) today.

Bladder stones had again formed causing him a lot of pain and we couldn't face seeing him going through the further surgeries and medication required, which had no real guarantee of long term sucess.

We will miss his character and loving ways so much. It was such a pleasure to have him in our lives.

Safe journey over the rainbow bridge little fella, Mum Alice will be waiting for you.

Credits to Josh Lawton for 2nd pic.

Our wonderful old cockerel Sandy died this morning at the incredible age of 11.

He was the kindest, most tolerent old chap with the most enormous spurs which he thankfully never used in anger.

I had a little thanksgiving ritual with him down in the Grove where I held him up and crowed one last time for before burying him beneath a small oak tree.

May he find many hens and golden grains in the Summerlands.

On the locally sourced food front, a friend in West Down supplied us with a whole leg of Pork. You Tube has some great butchery videos so I managed to convert this into 2 joints plus some steaks and also diced pork from the offcuts.
Thanks to Richie, at Lower Aylescott Farm. Its delicious!!

Its not only us having a change to our usual routine during the period we have to stay home. The goats have been allowed out for their exercise into the riverside paddock. They've been happily running about in a larger space and also munching back some of the brambles and marram grass.
