My dogs love their adventures to Centre Barks and always come home happy, tired, and content. It’s been so lovely to watch their confidence grow with every visit as they experience new scents, environments, and activities.

Today we celebrated Benjamin & Buzz’s 2nd birthday there, and they had the best time! They were obsessed with the new ball pool and honestly could have spent the entire session in it. They also braved their first dip in the splash lagoon, which was so lovely to see 🥹.

Thank you so much for creating such a fun, safe, and welcoming space for the dogs 🐶🫶 x

My main priority today was to keep the dogs safe so we had some cancellations, walks that were needed were completed by 9am and then we switched to home visits for lunchtime.

The dogs had lots of fun in the sun in their own gardens, with enrichment games for mental stimulation and of course lots of treats & cuddles 🥵🐶.

Tomorrow will be normal schedule and then most likely changes again on Thursday when the temperature is forecast to rise again. I’ll be in touch tomorrow evening with any changes that need to be made.

Dogs can sometimes find it difficult to cope with hot weather as they struggle to regulate their temperature which means they are more at risk of heatstroke than we are.
Heatstroke can be very serious! As a dog’s internal temperature rises it can cause damage to their organs and could lead to organ failure. According to AnimalTrust, 1 in 7 dogs that are taken to the vets with heatstroke are fatal.
During warm summer days it’s easy for your house to warm up. Some dogs may be able to cope with this rise in temperature, while others may struggle.
On hot days remember to:
• Ensure your dog always has access to drinking water
• Add ice cubes to your dog’s water bowls
• Use freezable dog toys and let them chew on it
• Put down damp towels for your dog to lie on (Never over the dog)
• If your dog has a long or heavy coat you could keep them well groomed to make them feel more comfortable
• Keep dogs out of hot conservatories
• Avoid housing your dog in direct sunlight
• Keeping your curtains and blinds closed during the day to prevent your home from warming up when it’s hottest, and then open your windows at night to help cool down your house.
If you think your dog may have heatstroke it’s vital that you immediately contact your vet while also trying to cool them down. Getting early advice and treatment is essential to saving a dog’s life.
Research found that in the UK, although 1 in 7 dogs that are taken to vets with heatstroke die, 98% that are seen early with mild signs are likely to survive.
Remember: Get them WET then get them to the VET

🥵 Hot Weather Policy 🥵

Due to the forecasted heatwave, it’s highly likely that my hot weather policy will be implemented from tomorrow and throughout next week.

What this means for you:

Older/disabled clients, and dogs left home alone will be prioritised first.

Where possible, group walks will be held much earlier in the day before temperatures rise. From lunchtime onwards, home visits will be carried out for clients who would prefer not to have early walks but still require a midday toilet break.

Each dog will be assessed individually based on their size, age, breed, and any health conditions. Walks carried out in shaded areas or near water may still need to be shortened if conditions become unsafe during the walk.

Forecasted temperatures will be reviewed daily, and clients will be contacted individually the day before if your usual routine needs to change.

In the meantime, it would be really helpful if you could let me know your preference for:

* An earlier group walk
* A lunchtime home visit
* Cancellation if you plan to be at home and don’t require option 1 and 2.

My main priority is keeping all dogs safe and comfortable during the heat. Thank you for your understanding.
