We never turn down a volunteer and where possible we try to rotate our volunteers. Barking and Dagenham Junior parkrun is free, open to all 4-14 year olds, 2K, 9am Sunday mornings from Barking Park by the Splash Park.

· Children can run alone.

· Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied to/from the event by a parent/guardian, and the parent/guardian must remain in attendance for the duration of the event.

· Parents/guardians can take part but they must accompany a junior runner. A maximum of two adults per child will be allowed.

· Adult runners are not permitted to run across the finish line.

· Buggies are allowed, but only if the adult pushing the buggy is accompanying a junior runner. Worth discussing course conditions with organisers before setting off.

· Children must be visible by a marshal at all times during the event, so please volunteer.

· Registration will include contact name and details of parent/guardian. Parents do not need to register.

· The use of scooters, balance bikes, trikes or cycles is prohibited.

· Dogs or other pets are not allowed to take part.

· It’s is supposed to be fun, so parents, please do not put children under undue pressure to perform, and abuse of any kind will not be tolerated.

· Children can volunteer for duties at finish.

- we actively encourage those who are working toward the Duke of Edinburgh Award to complete the "service" part with us as we have many weekly roles that require just an older role model for the young people taking part. Medication - if your child suffers requires an Asthma pump / Epipen, please ensure they are in-date and that they know how to use them

🎃 Spooktacular Fun at Barking junior parkrun!👻

What a fantastically spooky morning we had at Barking Park for Event #170! A blanket of eerie fog and a slight autumn chill didn't stop our brave junior parkrunners and volunteers from turning out for some Halloween magic! 🌫️🍂

A massive thank you to our spellbinding Run Director, Leigh Li, who kept us all in check dressed as a witch! 🧙‍♀️✨

Here is the quick breakdown of this morning's numbers:

🏃 17 fabulous finishers who walked, jogged, ran, and spooked their way around the 2km course!

🌟 4 First Timers – a huge welcome to the parkrun family! We hope you loved your very first event.

⚡ 4 Personal Bests – incredible flying efforts!

🧡 27 Hi-Vis Heroes – our wonderful volunteer team who made the magic happen safely!

Fancy Dress Superstars! 🎭

Our course was filled with amazing costumes today! We spotted a brilliant Oompa Loompa, a few spellcasting witches, two sneaky sharks 🦈, a cool cat 🐱, a spooky zombie 🧟, and even two slithering snakes 🐍! You all looked incredible—thank you for bringing so much fun to the park.

A Huge Community Shout-Out!🎃🎨

A giant barkrun thank you to Lakeview Café & Kitchen for hosting such a brilliant post-event treat for our juniors! The free pumpkin arts and crafts and the Demon Hunter Trail were an absolute hit, and taking home free pumpkins to carve topped off a perfect Sunday morning. We appreciate your fantastic support for our community! ☕🧡

👻 Dress Up: Costumes are warmly encouraged for both adults and children, but please make sure your little goblins can move and run safely!

⏱️ (Don't Forget Your Barcode!): Printed or on the parkrun app.

🛑 Finish Funnel: Adults, please cheer from the sidelines! Only children go through the finish funnel.

🎟️ Finish Tokens: Please pop your finish token into our green bucket before you head off—we need them every week!

What a fantastic, breezy Sunday morning at Barking Park! 🌳

The autumn wind certainly tried to give our runners an extra push today, but nothing could stop the incredible energy of our 33 brilliant finishers! Whether you walked, jogged, ran, or hopped your way around the 2km course, you all did an amazing job. 👏🧡

What a glorious morning for event number 168! The autumn chill was in the air, but the bright sunshine and big smiles warmed us all right up.

A giant high-five to all 19 of our wonderful young superstars who ran, walked, jogged, and hopped their way around our 2km course today! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

👏Milestone Magic: A massive congratulations to Uzair, who completed their 10th junior parkrun today! You’ve earned your first wristband—what an amazing achievement! 🏅

⚡ Personal Bests: 2 of our parkrunners crushed their personal bests today! Fantastic effort!

What a fantastic morning for event number 166! The weather delivered a lovely, dry autumnal chill—perfect conditions for walking, jogging, running, and skipping around our 2km course.

A huge, warm welcome to our 2 first timers who joined the junior parkrun family today - we hope you had a blast! 🥳 Plus, congratulations to the 3 juniors who bagged brand-new personal bests! ⏱️👏
