🐾 National Pet Microchipping Month🐾

Microchipping is a simple and permanent way to identify your pet, giving them the best chance of being reunited with you if they become lost or stolen. Unlike collars and tags, a microchip cannot easily be removed or lost.

🐶 It is a legal requirement for all dogs in the UK to be microchipped and registered on an approved database.

🐱In England, pet cats must also be microchipped and registered before they reach 20 weeks of age.

📝Keeping your contact details up to date on the database is essential, as a microchip is only effective if the information linked to it is accurate.

🏥Veterinary practices, local authorities and animal welfare organisations can scan a microchip to help identify and reunite lost pets with their owners.

This National Microchipping Month, take a few minutes to:

✅ Check your pet is microchipped

✅ Verify your registered contact details are current

Super Mikey's only gone and done it!

All marathons completed and Mike straight back to work like nothing ever happened (apart from some severe sun burn on his shoulders from Edinburgh 🥵🔥)

We couldn't be prouder of Mike, who ran all three marathons for a cause so close to all of us here, for the wonderful Freddie and Freddie's Future 🧡💙, so far Mike has raised over £2,500 and if you still want to donate, it's not too late!

He’s running for an amazing cause – Freddie’s Future, supporting Bone Cancer Research. We are all so proud of Mike and his determination to complete his marathon mission and we wish him the best of luck today especially in this heat☀️

🐾☀️How hot is too hot for our animals?☀️🐾

With the weather getting warmer over the bank holiday and the next few weeks, here are a few tips to help keep your dogs safe in the heat:

💧 Always carry fresh water
🌳 Stick to shaded areas where possible
🚶 Walk early morning or later in the evening
🔥 Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
🏡 Never leave dogs in parked cars, even for a few minutes
🐶 Keep an extra eye on puppies, senior dogs, larger breeds, and flat-faced breeds

We also have plenty of cooling coats, mats, and paddling pools for your furry friends to help keep them cool in this heat ☀️💦 As well as cooling plates for small animals too, because they can struggle with the heat just as much 🐇🐹

To celebrate National Pet Month, we’ve been welcoming local nurseries into our shop to explore, learn, and meet some of our furry (& non-furry!) animals 🐾🐢🐰

Recently, Little Dorothys Childcare came to visit and had a wonderful time discovering different animals, asking lots of questions, and enjoying a hands-on experience with our team. It was amazing to see so many smiling faces and curious minds throughout the visit!

Before heading home, the children received a little goody bag to remember their day with us — and we think it’s safe to say they left with big smiles on their faces too 💚
