💚 Penny’s Road to Recovery with Advanced Vetcare London.
Meet Penny, who came into Streatham Hill Vets after a sudden injury left her unable to put weight on her right front leg.☹️
Her owners hadn’t seen what happened, but they heard her cry out from another room. When they found her, Penny was holding her leg completely off the ground, and it was clear something was seriously wrong.🚑
Our team quickly assessed Penny and took X-rays, which confirmed fractures of both the radius and ulna, the two bones in the lower part of the foreleg. Penny was kept comfortable overnight with pain relief, cage rest and careful monitoring before being transferred to Advanced Vetcare London for specialist orthopaedic surgery.💚

At Advanced Vetcare London, Penny’s fracture was treated surgically using a locking compression plate, which helps hold the broken bone securely in the correct position while it heals. Her surgery involved carefully realigning the fractured bones and stabilising the radius with a specialist plate and screws.
Post-operative X-rays showed good alignment and implant positioning, giving Penny the best chance of a smooth recovery.💚

Penny recovered well from her anaesthetic and spent one night in hospital before heading home to continue her recovery with a detailed plan, including strict rest, regular bandage checks and follow-up X-rays.
