(1)

We take dogs in for several Dog Wardens in the South East. We have boarding facilities in Heathrow and foster homes across the UK Dogs Walk This Way Rescue's is run by Rachael and her band of dedicated volunteers. Our aim is one thing, saving lives of the dogs who need it most. After Rachael visited Romania, many years ago, and witnessed the torture that these poor dogs suffer, she could not walk

away without trying to make a difference. These dogs have been through hell and back, and deserve to be shown what real human love and kindness is. Dogs Walk This Way Rescue works with a team of trusted rescuers in Romania where the dogs are fully assessed before coming to the UK to start their new lives. We have a volunteer team in the UK who support Rachael to keep the rescue running. Dogs Walk This Way Rescue also have an amazing UK Vet, who fully supports our mission in to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome these deserving dogs. Our experienced volunteers offer adopters full support and guidance and full, ongoing rescue back up. We send aid to Romania as often as we can. This includes food, bedding, medications etc so if you can donate to making the dogs lives in Romania a little more bearable please get in touch about the storage location. Funds are always needed to save as many dogs as possible so even if you cannot physically adopt a dog please consider donating or even sponsoring a dog. If you can foster for us please get in touch. We cannot do this without the support of all the animal lovers so please like and share our page, as sometimes it only takes one share to save a doggies life :-)

We have kennels in Longcross and foster homes across the UK. Paypal details.... [email protected]

Thank you

To Love a Rescuer 🐾

To love a rescuer you must love all of her. You must love the scars covering her body from panicked and hurt animals she was trying to help. You must love her fractured heart, that has been broken so many times she no longer even takes the time to mend the pieces.

To love a rescuer, you must embrace her grit and determination, and know that although she fights a war she can never win, she can and does win a few battles. You must love the tears she will shed over those she lost. You must give her comfort that she refuses to accept, as she blames herself for things she could have never foreseen.

To love a rescuer you must acknowledge the rage she feels towards the world at times, and know that anger is driven by a love of life too few have. You must give her space and room to cry and mourn for the losses that others have caused out of carelessness or cruelty.

To love a rescuer you must understand her passion to heal and save is a calling, not a choice. You must accept that to save animals is part of her soul and without that she could never be happy.

To love a rescuer you must be patient. You must accept her work comes first. She will forgo sleep, forgo food, forgo her life for animals in need. She will work tirelessly until her body and mind fail her completely and she cannot go on.

To Love a rescuer, you must be strong. You must not be threatened by her focus and love of animals. You must accept that the things you love about her, the strength and convictions and loyalty are also what drives her sense of duty to animals in need; you cannot have one without the other.

To love a rescuer you must never ask her to choose, because she will, and it will not be you.

We welcomed North to the DWTW family this week after extremely sad circumstances. His owner suddenly passed away and sadly their was no next of kin and neighbours tried to ensure he was not given to the warden so they took him in for two days and were contacting various rescues to get him to safety. One of the neighbours used to volunteer for Rachael at another charity many years ago so reached out privately and we went straight to North’s aid and collected him immediately to ensure he was safe and didn’t have to go to kennels. After all he’s been through and witnessed (no direct abuse) he’s settling in really well and will be soon looking for his forever home 🤞🏻

🐾 Happy National Rescue Dog Day 🐾

Every rescue dog who comes into our care has a different story.

Some have suffered neglect. Some have been abandoned. Some have sadly come into rescue due to illness or the death of a loving owner. Whatever their story, Dogs Walk This Way Rescue is here to help show them the way forward with love, kindness, compassion and training.

Our wish is that one day there won’t be so many dogs needing rescue. We can only hope that irresponsible breeding for profit will stop, as it continues to add to the crisis rescues are facing.

If you would like to make a real difference to a rescue dog’s life, please consider fostering.

We can only help the dogs we do because of our amazing fosterers, who open their hearts and homes when these dogs need it most. ❤️

And another!!! Teddy the small spaniel pup has been adopted by his fosterer! Sally has fostered many dogs for the rescue and when she agreed to foster we did have an inkling this could be a fail and seeing the picture you’ll understand why!

Thank you to all applications for Teddy and I know some will be disappointed but being a fosterer we always give them first refusal. Teddy will have the best life with his new family.

Your new life starts now Teddy ❤️🐾❤️

What is fostering?

Fostering is where you temporarily look after a dog in your own home while the dog is waiting to find it’s forever home. Fostering is an amazing way to support the work at Dogs Walk This Way Rescue and our fosters are vital to our organisation.

Why should I choose to foster for Dogs Walk This Way Rescue?

At Dogs Walk This Way we are on hand to support our fosters every step of the way.

- A foster dog will be matched to you based on the needs of the dog and your experience.
- While fostering you will receive regular follow up calls/messages to check that the dog is settling ok and to support you with any issues that you may be experiencing. We will also provide food for the dog (if you would like us to), any essential items of equipment (crate, bed, bowls, collar, leads, harness) and cover any vets bills while the dog is in your care.
- Once your foster is ready to be rehomed we will ask you to provide details and pictures for the advert.
- We will support you through the meet and greet process with any potential adopters and also the handover process when the time comes for your foster dog to leave for its forever home.

Do I need to live nearby to the rescue?
No but we do ask that you live within an hour’s drive of Bagshot, Surrey. This is so we can support you through the process.

I already have dog(s) of my own, will I be able to foster?
Absolutely! We welcome foster applications from dog owners, particularly dog owners who have experience with behavioural issues (e.g - dog or person reactivity, resource guarding) and large breeds. Some of our dogs need a foster home with a resident dog who can show them ropes.

I don’t have a dog of my own, will I be able to foster?
Yes! We welcome foster applications from non-dog owners as well, particularly people who have experience with behavioural issues or large breeds. Some dogs are suitable to live as the only dog in the home.

I have children or cats, am I able to foster?
Of course! We look for all types of home environments for our dogs and have dogs that are suitable to live with children and cats. Please be aware though that this may limit the dogs suitable for you.

If you are interested in fostering and would like to discuss this with us, please complete our foster application form via the link below and a member of our team will be in touch as soon as possible.
