Care and use of equipment - it’s always been a big deal for any kind of manual workers but in this game it’s massive; there’s an old saying which goes "you’ll only cut yourself on a blunt knife" and in the main, it’s very true. A sharp knife will do as you ask of it, it’s when you start pulling and pushing and grunting that the accidents happen. Knives and other cutting implements need to be literally razor sharp in this game.
This machine is a Tormek, a Scandinavian made, slow turning whetstone grinder and funnily enough I don’t use it much on the work stuff, chisels, plane irons and kitchen knives though - all of which I use a lot, now that’s a different story.

Power is nothing without control.
Old school style coursing slips and collars. These collars are 5/8” inches wide; we do make slightly wider or slightly narrower to suit. I’ve put a leather grab loop on these and I’ve stitched them instead of riveting them together; we’ve had a couple of issues with rivets recently so until we can get the very best fixings, ones fit for purpose then we’ll be stitching everything together.
The slips are two pieces of leather which are skived, glued, spliced and stitched together to make (on average) an 8 foot long slip lead. We can do theses in bridle leather which in fairness will add to the cost but we can get another couple of foot or so in length.

Guys if you need us then give us a prod via the medium of a phone call; I’d say that’s the quickest and most effective method of getting hold of us.
We have a multitude of live orders and while I can cope with the work these days (just), the sheer volume of admin has always been a bit problematic. I have the mobile phone personally more these days and all calls are diverted to it; call me.
If you need an update, call us.
If you have multiple profiles on here or have ordered in someone else’s name, or some
Made up moniker then please give us as much detail or at least the best correct details as you can so we can find you more effectively. You’d be surprised at the amount of work it causes us when you’re not who you say you are.
Generally speaking, if you need us guys then give us a call. I can’t really make it any easier than that.
Also, and this is for all the experts, if you really you think you can do this better than we can - and there are clearly enough of you out there, then CALL US and we’ll give you the chance to try, absolutely no prejudice. Actions speak louder than words.
For everyone else, peace and love

Good morning guys, I trust you are all well. I’ve not updated this page as such for a while - I tend to find that posting on any social media can be a bit of a double edged sword as it were; it attracts some right dingers. Not just on here but on all the other platforms, thankfully this is not the worst.
I tend to swerve the socials if I can because of the fact that it’s sometimes more trouble than it’s worth but it’s still clear that there is a lot of you that enjoy what we do and the photos we post of it so I thought it was about time that we had a catch up, that and this is still an effective way of communicating with lots of people at once; and if there’s one thing that the crabbers really must know, it’s that I’m not a giver upper, in fact their tears and tantrums just add fuel to my fire.
I woke up early this morning as usual with the intention of going to work at our shop but I felt (and still do) absolutely terrible. Whether it’s a summer cold or flu or whether the kids have brought something home I’m not sure but it’s flattened me; that and I’m no spring chicken any more, far from it. I can’t just graft at 100mph all the time like I used to.
We don’t get much time off work and away from the shop and I’m not complaining, it’s a fantastic work space and I’ve worked in far worse places, but being self employed does take its toll and we do have a life outside of work, we’ve got family for a start and that in itself is enough for some. Incidentally my family will always come first, I’ve put absolutely everything into this, sometimes at great personal cost but my family comes first. My intentions during all this (and it’s been 10 years) have always been completely honourable - but we do drop the ball sometimes and I’m aware of that, we’re not perfect but we’re trying.
The last few years have seen some of, if not the actual worst circumstances to operate a business in recent history, I won’t go into detail but it has been very hard work.
We sometimes have to rely on getting the odd gentle reminder to keep up. Not perfect, but we’re trying.
If you need us, either phone, message on here or email us. We are pretty easy to reach but please remember there are only two of us and (fortunately) we have a massive following, relatively speaking.
If you need us:
Phone 01706 963 051, or

Or message us on here.
Many thanks guys, enjoy your day.
PS, it’s absolutely pishing down here
Take care
Sully

The Beddy/Beddy whippet collar, it has narrower taper and is longer for extra adjustment - the whippet, the Bedlington terrier and any cross between the two can have enormously contrasting neck sizes so we make this with extra adjustment, we fit an extra leather grab loop to take up any slack.
