I’ve been keeping a secret πŸ‘€

Noah is going to be a big brother as we are welcoming a little girl in October 🩷

I will be having time off throughout October and November, but plan to come back just in time for our very manic December.

We will obviously not have as much space throughout October & November so please plan ahead as best you can.

Those of you that are already booked in with myself for the rest of the year will still have your appointment with one of the other brilliant girls, so no need to worry πŸ˜€

🦷 Some of our recent teeth cleaning appointments πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Our Cleany Teeth Toothbrush is working wonders and we are confident you will see an improvement to your dogs teeth and gum condition, breath and plaque buildup.

Most dogs will require 1-3 initial 30 minute sessions to remove the majority of the plaque and tartar build up, reduce bad breath and whiten their teeth. This can be done alongside their grooming appointment every 4-8 weeks or as a stand alone service.

Follow up sessions thereon are recommended every 6 months.

This will be dependent on your dogs
- Size: Smaller dogs have a more cramped mouth and more prone to bad teeth.
- Diet: A wet food diet is less likely to help naturally clean compared to a dry kibble.
- Home maintenance

First two sessions- Β£40
Extra sessions- Β£25

During each session, we will focus on different areas of your dogs mouth and target the worst sections. Some dogs will have very noticeable results on their first session and some may only notice a slight decrease in plaque and slight whitening. This will depend on the severity of your dogs teeth. On occasion you may be referred to a vet if we think the teeth are in too poor a condition as they may need further treatment.

EVERY dog is required to have an initial consultation first as not every dog will tolerate the treatment and some teeth will need a vet visit instead.

We look forward to seeing many pearly whites 😍

We get asked quite often if we can scissor a coat as short as possible but without clipping your dogs coat.

In short- yes we absolutely can do this for you.

The reality- This takes a lot more skill, time and wear and tear on our hands and equipment. Therefore must be charged accordingly. It is also not possible or safe to scissor a dog as short as you could when using a blade.

Did you know? Your dog’s coat does not know how it has been cut. We could scissor or clip the coat to whatever length you desire. However, sc******ng does not protect the coat any more than clipping would- especially when asking to go as short as we can.

Usually, the only time that sc******ng a coat is better practice is when the breed has a double coat. Since these breeds have protective guard hairs that are damaged when cutting, causing potential alopecia and coat funk. Otherwise, sc******ng is purely for aesthetic looks, such as to keep a dog’s feathers/skirt/bib or tidy up the coat rather than taking it all off.

P.s you would be surprised just how many breeds have a double coat- not just your typical German shepherds and golden retriever types! Many terriers and spaniels also have a double coat too, although after cutting the coat, their coat often becomes more dull, thicker and more maintenance.

How often should I have my dog groomed?

We could give you a β€œone size fits all” answer, but the majority of the time, it’s based on each individual dog. The coat type, groom style and home maintenance all play a factor in finding the schedule that works best for you and your dog.

For instance: a curly coated cockapoo that has a long coat will need daily brushing and combing to keep any knots at bay. If you are unable to commit to this amount of brushing (or if your dog simply won’t let you!), it’s best to visit us every 3-4 weeks for bath and brush, then another 3-4 weeks for a full groom.

A silky coated Yorkshire terrier that has a short cut all over will most likely stretch to 8-12 weeks before trying to contact Claudia Winkleman for tips on styling their fringe and scrolling Pinterest for trending nail designs.

Double coated and short haired dogs will blow their coat year round. No matter how much you brush these fur balls, you will probably find a fur ball or two around your house. To help you keep the tumbleweed at bay, we recommend a regular visit of no longer than 12 weeks. Some shorter haired dogs are particularly smelly and some long double coated breeds have extra thick coats- in these cases, a 6-8 weekly schedule would be perfect for you!

The reality is, every single dog and their coat is different to the next. We can give you realistic grooming recommendations to suit your desired frequency, home maintenance, grooming expectations and budget.
