How often should I have my dog groomed?
We could give you a βone size fits allβ answer, but the majority of the time, itβs based on each individual dog. The coat type, groom style and home maintenance all play a factor in finding the schedule that works best for you and your dog.
For instance: a curly coated cockapoo that has a long coat will need daily brushing and combing to keep any knots at bay. If you are unable to commit to this amount of brushing (or if your dog simply wonβt let you!), itβs best to visit us every 3-4 weeks for bath and brush, then another 3-4 weeks for a full groom.
A silky coated Yorkshire terrier that has a short cut all over will most likely stretch to 8-12 weeks before trying to contact Claudia Winkleman for tips on styling their fringe and scrolling Pinterest for trending nail designs.
Double coated and short haired dogs will blow their coat year round. No matter how much you brush these fur balls, you will probably find a fur ball or two around your house. To help you keep the tumbleweed at bay, we recommend a regular visit of no longer than 12 weeks. Some shorter haired dogs are particularly smelly and some long double coated breeds have extra thick coats- in these cases, a 6-8 weekly schedule would be perfect for you!
The reality is, every single dog and their coat is different to the next. We can give you realistic grooming recommendations to suit your desired frequency, home maintenance, grooming expectations and budget.
