If anyone is currently feeding their animals years dog food please stop immediately and make an appointment with your usual vet.

Years Dog Food have this morning issued a voluntary recall on all their fresh meals following reports of dogs developing a painful eye condition.

Some dogs eating their diets have been being diagnosed with ‘Dry Eye’, an illness caused by the eyes no longer producing enough tears.

Symptoms include red, sore eyes, a sticky, snot-like discharge around eyes and in some cases ulcers on the surface of the eyes.

It is easily diagnosed by a tear production test at your vets but treatment can sometimes be challenging.

They have advised that anyone who has their meals stops feeding them immediately and all subscription plans will be paused for 6 weeks.

The focus at the moment appears to be on buckwheat as an ingredient and Years have been working with veterinary specialists to try to find out the cause.

If you feed Years and are concerned or have a dog who you think might be impacted, visit your vet for a check up and contact Years via the information in this link;

In the meantime, my advice would be to move your dog to a kibble or canned based pet food while this investigation is on-going.

A successful morning thanks to the dedicated dog wardens of Armagh and the patience of Brenda and Finbar. And of course, the hard work of Lost Paws NI - Lost and Found Pets who helped get an area safe enough for the dog to feel comfortable. She’s off now to a warm bed and the start of a new life ❤️

So upset by this. 4 weeks now this dog has been straying and finally today would have been the day the dog was safe. 100s of miles travelled to supply equipment to help. Time away from volunteers work and families. To be met with not only someone stopping them from helping but to then be verbally abused. For now the dog is fed and safe and will continue to be. We won’t give up.

To the wonderful dog lovers of Mullacrieve and st Patrick’s park. Thank you for taking such good care of this stray dog the past few weeks. Your attention and care have kept him safe and with a full belly. Now we need your help again. The fantastic volunteers at Lost Paws NI - Lost and Found Pets are helping us catch him. We have a feeding station and a camera set up in a secluded space to watch his movements. They will then set a trap as this is the only way he will get to safety. For now we need everyone to stop feeding the dog please. He needs to have one food source and continue to use this safe site. If you come across the camera by accident please leave it alone and do remember, you are being recorded if you don’t. You can continue to leave out water and keep an eye on him but please don’t approach him as he’s just too scared and we can’t risk him moving on. Thank you again for all the care you’ve shown this dog and let’s get him safe and secured together.
