I am Danny and Poppy is my associate and due to our bond, it was a natural decision to name my first venture into the animal world after Poppy. I am a military veteran of 38 years and now that my service is behind me, I wanted to immerse myself into something that come

s naturally, and dogs are my passion. When I was younger, I had an ambition to be a vet, but my education was restricted so I did what came naturally. Dog walking will be my elementary provision with the ability to conduct home visits and offer an occasional boarding service where the dogs will become part of our family.

‘Walkies with Poppy’ is for dogs, but the service extends beyond that to any animal that needs care, and they will all receive a premium service, my absolute attention and I will do as I say; put the animals first. I hope that you will consider ‘Walkies with Poppy’ for your 4-legged family member, and I assure you that they will get the best of me.

A week or so ago I took on a pair of dogs for 10 days whilst the family are on holiday.

Both dogs were initially nervous and one was particularly non trustworthy; had a dislike for men and just wanted to be at home with her loving humans.

When I came to the house she would remove herself and shelter in her safe space, I was not getting close and she did not want me to approach.

The challenge was on; and a week later I arrive for our daily outing and we have time travelled from what she was to something completely different. She is waiting for me with a waggy tail and a sweet smile on her little face.

We have achieved alot in 7 days and I'm delighted with her and her sisters progress. They are interacting great with the group, happy to go out and they leave me with a relaxed demeanour unlike before.

Their family adore them and were right to be nervous but we have done it together, they will come home to 2 dogs with some new experiences and hopefully with a behaviour difference too. It's been a joy watching the journey.

We all know the walks that make you groan 😩—the ones where the walker is glued to their phone, the pack is out of control, and you’re left worrying about your dog being overwhelmed or distracted. I’ve certainly experienced plenty of those.

Today, though, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a dog walker who sets the gold standard 🏆. From the moment we approached each other, it was clear how professional, calm, and considerate he is 🌟. Mally is still in training, so I put her lead on and asked her to wait nicely. It’s so important for her to learn that she will encounter other dogs while working and that her focus must stay on me—not off for a playful greeting 🐾.

This walker managed his dogs with calm authority and clear control, while also showing genuine kindness and thoughtfulness toward us 💛. Our brief conversation was polite and friendly, and he took the time to wish us a pleasant walk—small gestures, but they make a huge difference 🙂.

It’s such a relief to come across someone who combines professionalism with true care and consideration. Hats off to Poppys—why can’t every dog walker be like you? 🎩🐶

PS: I promise I wasn’t stalking you—your van just happened to be in the parking area! 🚐😉
