A bit of Sunday Cuteness.....this is 🐕 Bruce, and he came in for his monthly puppy weight check and flea/tick treatment. He looked very dapper in his bowtie and wagged his tail the whole time! Super well behaved, he sat nicely on the scales and even had a nail trim. As a member of the Healthy Pet Club, there were no additional charges for these as they are included! The video shows him having his treatment, a simple tasty tablet which he ate like a treat! Such a good boy 🥰

October is Black Cat Awareness Month - a time to celebrate these sleek, mysterious, and often misunderstood felines. Despite their charm and beauty, black cats are sadly less likely to be adopted due to outdated myths and superstitions. This month is all about changing perceptions and showing the world just how wonderful black cats truly are.

"Time for bed, said Zebedee"
And just like that our Tortoise party event for 2025 is over. Thank you to everyone who attended both the Saturday talk and check, and the week-long check in appointments.
Massive thanks to all the staff (and family members) from those who gave up their Saturday to help out, for the awesome tortoise toppers (the shark fin was a massive hit!) + photo frames. And for fantastic photography skills to fill up our display boards.
Lots of interesting names, and a picture of our oldest attendee at 150 years old!
There is already chatter about next years event...so watch this space! Well, after a well deserved winter nap for some 💤 😴 🐢

This adorable dog is called Widget, who came in to see Deputy Head Nurse Jenny for a nail clip and heath check under his Healthy Pet Club plan. Every badge is a mountain he has climbed with his owner, and of course he deserves all the belly rubs!

Today on Small Pet Rodent Awareness Week - SPRAW it's the spot light on These rodents are active during the day and can live up to 5-9 years! They are social animals who need the company of a friend or more! They are chewers so require a mental cage of a large size. They need a sandbath to help keep clean, and any bedding needs to be dust extracted.

🐾✨ Ever heard of a degu?
These curious, clever rodents are some of the most fascinating and misunderstood small pets out there - and they deserve way more love and awareness! 💛🐹

As part of , we’re shining a light on degus - incredibly social animals that form strong bonds, thrive on interaction, and need more than just a wheel and a cage to be happy.

✅ Did you know degus are diurnal (awake during the day), unlike most rodents?
✅ They need to live in pairs or groups... a solitary degu is a lonely degu.
✅ They also have sensitive diets, no sugary treats!
✅ Boredom can lead to stress, so they need regular enrichment and mental stimulation.

We have had a lizard brought into the practice this morning. If you are missing on please email the clinic on [email protected] with proof of ownership.
When we are closed, we may not respond straight away, however the lizard is being cared for whist we await contact.

Today's Small Pet Rodent Awareness Week - SPRAW is the wonderfully intelligent Rat. Rats are active rodents who love to explore. They live for 2-3 years and are usually nocturnal. Rats should be housed in the largest metal cages possible, they love to climb and are social so should be kept in groups with plenty of enrichment to keep them busy.
Rats can be prone to respiratory problems, so bedding must be dust extracted, and housed away from drafts and artificial scents.
Although they like to chew everything (including your clothes) they make really wonderful pets, although die to their short lifespan they do leave a lot of broken hearts. Ragnar and Rollo here are enjoying some treats.
