Today's Parrot Awareness Week -PAW focus is first on Green Cheeked Conures. These small, highly intelligent and affectionate parrots are much loved for their big personalities, playful antics, and the fact they are quieter than other conure species. They thrive on owner interaction and are brilliant learners. Owners can miss cues given by them which can result in a nip, its the only way they can say no!

Today is National Bearded Dragon day. These "little dinos" are squamates (lizards). They are not descendants of dinosaurs, which branched off from a different lineage.
They live for 8-15yrs with proper care. They need UV lighting, heat, basking spots, the occasional bath to help with shedding, hydration and hygiene.
As adults they mostly eat greens (80% greens/veg, 20% live insects)
The spikes that line their bodies are generally soft, unless they feel threatened, then they puff and become spikey. Their beard also changes colour to black!

Glorious weather brings out the sunbathers These rather lovely sun catchers belong to Nurse Pippa. The 2 Bengals (Harley and Enzo) were adopted from the Blue Cross after they came to have their vaccines at the clinic. Craftee the Bearded Dragon does love to watch the world outside the window - fully supervised.

Don't get in a flap, but it is nearly the end of !

This is Chico, who belongs to our patient care assistant (and resident artist on the Anton Amazing Animal Facts board) Kaitlyn. When he first came to her he was a very shy bird, but with her care and dedication, his confidence has grown!

On what is traditionally we are lacking in tongues....but we do have 4 very handsome views of Arlo, who is a 1yr old labrador. He loves his food, sleeping, and having a good sniffing session while on walks. He belongs to Becky, a member of our awesome Patient Care Assistant Team, who can clearly capture his handsomest poses on camera.
