🐥 We’re currently caring for lots of young House Martins and Swallows! This young House Martin came into HART, along with his siblings, after their nest collapsed. House Martins build their nests out of mud so prolonged periods of dry weather can have a huge negative impact.

House Martin Conservation UK & Ireland have lots of information on their website as to how you can help this wonderful species, including advice on artificial nests:

🐭 This baby Wood Mouse was found all alone on a path. She’s very young and still has her eyes closed so wouldn’t have survived for very long without her mother.
The finders did the right thing and waited to see if her mother would return but unfortunately she didn’t, so was brought into HART to be cared for by our experienced team.

🐥 This nestling Starling came into HART after being found in someone’s loft! Starlings commonly make their nests in gutters and in cavities in roof spaces. With no sign of this one’s nest, he was brought into HART for rehabilitation. He was very dehydrated on arrival but is now doing well!

Starlings are red listed in the UK which means they’re a species of high conservation concern. Their population has significantly declined since the 1980s so it’s a privilege to be able to rehabilitate this vulnerable species.

🐣 This baby Sparrowhawk came into HART after being found out of the nest. Underweight and much too small to be on the ground, he was brought into HART where we discovered he had flystrike. Flystrike is a horrible condition and something we see far too frequently during these warmer months. Flystrike is where flies lay their eggs on weak, vulnerable animals and these eggs will eventually hatch into maggots! Luckily this youngster was found just in time and we were able to remove all the flystrike with no lasting damage.

❤️ If you’d like to support our work, please consider donating items through our Amazon wishlist. We’re currently in need of calcium supplement, Ecover disinfectant, and washing-up liquid. Every donated item we receive is a huge help!

Thank you so much to everyone who has signed-up to sponsor our hoglets! We’ve been admitting lots of these adorable babies after they’ve found themselves in need of help for various reasons.
The youngster in this video is learning how to lap specialist formula from a dish but has not quite got the hang of it yet!

There’s still plenty of time to sponsor our hoglets as the closing date for new sign-ups is Sunday 20th July. Every sponsor we have will allow us to help even more hoglets this orphan season. For more information, please check out our website through the link below. ❤️🦔
