🌿 World Environment Day

At Drusillas we’re continually making changes to help reduce our environmental impact💚. This World Environment Day we wanted to share just some of the ways we’re helping:

♻️ Reducing waste by removing single-use plastics from our restaurants and shops. We’ve also installed water bottle refill stations, including a new one next to the coffee counter at Explorers.
📱 Cutting paper use with digital tickets, memberships, and our Drusillas app
🔋 Using electricity from renewable energy sources across our operations
🚗 Supporting greener travel with EV chargers, hybrid vehicles, and public transport links
🛍️ Increasing our range of eco-friendly products and sustainable materials
🌱 Managing the park to support biodiversity and creating habitats for native species such as a flower meadow, bee burrows and hedgerows

We’ve also created a Sustainability Working Group to help monitor, evaluate, and develop our sustainability efforts, ensuring we continue to improve our environmental impact over time.

Even small steps can come together to make a big change. By all doing our part, we can help keep our environment healthy for both wildlife and people. 🐾🌎

We were honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness: The Duchess of Gloucester yesterday afternoon as part of a special royal visit to learn more about our historic zoo.

Her Royal Highness was received by Mrs Kathy Sambrook OBE DL, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex, Cllr Gavin Blake-Coggins, Chair of Wealden District Council, and Drusillas' Managing Directors, Cassie Poland and Ollie Smith, alongside former owners Michael and Kitty Ann.

During her visit, The Duchess met members of the Drusillas team from across the business, learning about the Park’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare, education, and conservation. She also met Zoo Manager Mark Kenward and Head Keeper Gemma Romanis, and discussed the Park’s sloths, including the successful hand-rearing of Flash in 2016, before visiting the Park’s Colobus monkey habitat to discuss Drusillas’ education programmes and international conservation partnerships.

The visit concluded with Michael Ann sharing stories from Drusillas Park’s rich history, which spans more than a century.

It was a privilege to show Her Royal Highness around the Park and showcase everything that goes into creating a memorable and meaningful experience for our visitors.

We're delighted to share that our Dwarf Mongoose family has welcomed twin babies! 🤎

Did you know that dwarf mongooses are the smallest carnivores in Africa? Measuring just 18–30 cm long and weighing only 210–350 grams – which means these new arrivals are teeny tiny!

In the wild, and here in our family group, everyone helps care for the youngsters. The pack is led by a dominant breeding female, and in our mongoose mob, that's proud mum Goose! 🥰

Keep your eyes peeled on your next visit – you might just spot our adorable new twins exploring their world for the very first time🔍
