Los Infiernos Protectora Supporters LIPS is a group of volunteers who support the animals at the Anguimar pound in Los Infiernos, Murcia.

The primary aim is to arrange adoptions to appropriate homes both in and out of Spain. Los Infiernos Protectora Supporters (LIPS) is a volunteer group that supports the dogs at the pound run by Anguimar Servicios S.L. and Protectora de Caminando Con Ellos in Los Infiernos, Murcia (Spain). Our volunteers help with the day to day care of the animals, arrange foster homes, adoptions, and travel, hold

fundraisers, help with veterinary care and costs, and also run this very social media page. DONATE to our PayPal

🎂🐾 HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRETEL! 🐾🎂

They say you shouldn’t have favourites when you volunteer at a dog shelter…

But sometimes it’s completely unavoidable. 😂

And with Ron and Gretel, it’s become pretty obvious that these two have chosen each other. 💙

Ron is an amazing GSD who has been waiting at Los Infiernos for his forever family. He’s had plenty of interest, and he’s a real favourite with the volunteers, but somehow it’s never quite worked out for him.

Then there’s Gretel…

If Ron hears Gretel’s voice, he gets VERY excited. His ears go up, his tail starts going and you can almost hear:

“GRETEL’S HERE!!!” 😍🐕

And if someone gets to Ron before Gretel and takes him out?

Gretel smiles. 😊
Gretel is lovely.
Gretel pretends she’s absolutely fine.

But deep down?

SHE IS NOT HAPPY. 😂😂😂

Clearly, Ron is her favourite too.

Unfortunately, there is just one tiny problem…

GRETEL CAN’T HAVE RON! 🤣

And although we’re pretty sure she’d happily sneak him home if nobody was looking, she knows that Ron needs to find his own very special forever family.

And honestly, as much as she would be heartbroken to say goodbye to him, Gretel would love nothing more than to see Ron adopted. ❤️

Because that’s the best thing a volunteer can wish for — to see a dog they adore finally leave the shelter and start the life they deserve.

So today, on Gretel’s birthday, we’re making a special wish for both of them…

🐾 And PLEASE can someone make Ron’s forever-home wish come true?

Although we suspect there may be one condition…

Some rescue stories just melt your heart, and Otis's is one you won't want to miss. 🥺❤️

Months and months ago, Otis was a frightened boy who wanted nothing to do with anyone, choosing to stay tucked away in his kennel rather than face the world. But thanks to the dedication of our trust team and volunteers, everything changed.
Fast forward to today, and Otis is completely unrecognizable! He now ‘bounces’ happily down the road, walks like an absolute dream on the lead, and gets so excited to make new doggie friends. 🐕✨
He is calm, loving, incredibly brave, and ready for his next chapter. Whoever adopts Otis is getting the most loyal and special companion. 🏡🐾

🐾 Meet Gorgeous Colon! 🐾

If you want to see what pure sweetness looks like, just watch this video! 😍 Colon is an absolute sweetheart who completely melts hearts with how gentle and loving he is with children, cats, and other dogs. 🐾🐱👶
Poor Colon has been in foster care for far too long now, and he is more than ready for his forever family or single person home. He deserves to find a special human (or family) to call his very own! 🏡❤️
A few quick facts about our lovely boy:
About him: Male, castated, born in June 2022, medium-sized at approximately 20 kg.
Personality: Very sweet, loves his cuddles, and adores chasing a ball! 🎾
Training: Highly food-oriented, happy to learn, and walks nicely on his lead. 🦮
Compatibility: Good with most non-dominant dogs, could possibly live with cats, and great with older children. 🤝
Travel: Currently in Cartagena, Spain, but ready to travel to most places in Spain, the EU, and the UK! ✈️🇪🇸🇬🇧🇨🇭

💙🐾 HOW SAD ARE WE TO SAY GOODBYE TO AMAZING HOLIDAY VOLUNTEER NICOLA?! 🐾💙

Well… VERY! 😭

Nicola has been coming to LIPS for years during the school holidays and every time she walks through those gates, we know we’re in for a VERY good few days, weeks or months! 🙌🐕

She’s one of those brilliant “YES, I CAN!” people. 💪 Whatever needs doing, Nicola is up for it! Walking dogs? Yep. Getting mucky? Yep. Helping wherever she’s needed? Absolutely! 😂

The volunteers LOVE her… but the dogs may love her even more! ❤️ Because Nicola doesn’t just help them — she absolutely adores them.

She even comes in THREE DAYS A WEEK when she’s here, and clearly all that dog-walking has paid off because just LOOK at her modelling skills! 😂📸🐶

These are just some of the dogs Nicola has been busy modelling with over the last week. We’re not sure whether she came to volunteer or secretly auditioned for LIPS Dog Model of the Year! 🏆🤣

And Nicola doesn’t stop at herself either. She brings her family and friends along to help too. We can only assume that if she’s putting them up for free, they have to pay their way somehow… and that payment is LOTS OF DOG LOVE! 🐾❤️😂

The summer months are always particularly challenging for us, with so many of our regular volunteers away. Holiday volunteers like Nicola make a HUGE difference. Heroes…all of them! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️🦸

We genuinely couldn’t get so many of our dogs out, exercised, loved and enjoying their time with us without you. ❤️

So from every dog who got a walk, a cuddle, a play, a treat, a fuss or simply some much-needed attention…

…and from all of us volunteers…

How lovely is this!

New volunteer Rich has fallen for beautiful Dartanan! Sometimes it takes someone new to really see the beauty in a dog. We suspect that Rich would’ve wanted to take him home but Dartanan is not a fan of cats. We know he’s going to find the home he deserves. Would you help him by adopting or sharing this post? 🖤🤍 PUNKIE & THOR — TWO VERY SPECIAL DOGS WAITING FOR THEIR CHANCE 🤍🖤

Punkie (black) and Thor (black & white) have been with us for far too long. 💔

They arrived as puppies and, although they aren’t related, they have always been together. The kennels are the only world they have really known, and it’s heartbreaking to think that they have spent so much of their lives waiting for someone to show them what life outside can really be.

They are looking for someone very special — someone who can take them both and help them make that enormous leap from kennel life into the scary, exciting world beyond. 🏡❤️

This photo sums them up perfectly…

Punkie is jumping up, looking for some special love and attention, while Thor patiently waits for his turn. And Thor really is such a gentle gent. 🥹

They desperately want human affection, but they simply don’t know what to do with a world they have only ever seen in little glimpses.

We don’t want them to remain in kennels. They are already institutionalised, and helping them truly become the dogs they should be will take someone who understands that this won’t happen overnight.

They need patience.
They need reassurance.
They need love.
And most of all, they need someone who will believe in them. ❤️

Someone who will show them that walks can be adventures, that beds and sofas are wonderful places to sleep, that cuddles can happen every day and that the world outside the kennel isn’t something to fear.

Imagine watching two dogs who have known so little finally discover what it means to be loved, safe and home. 🥹

Punkie and Thor don’t need the easiest home. They need a very special one.

💙🐾 PERFECT PRESTON! 🐾💙

Wow… just WOW! 😍

Preston is estimated to be just one year old, and this gorgeous boy is an absolute sweetheart. 💙

Maxine met him recently with Nicola and said:

“What a complete sweetheart. He completely melted me and Nicola — we were absolutely smitten with him. He was so affectionate, just wanted to cuddle, lie upside down and have his belly tickled. Honestly, the shelter is not the place for him.” 🥹💙

In fact…between Nicole and and Maxine no other volunteer has managed a look in!!

But honestly, we can see why and we couldn’t agree more. Just look at this gorgeous boy in the video! 🥰

Preston is young, loving and desperate for affection. He really deserves a sofa, a family and a belly full of cuddles — not life behind kennel bars.

💙 HOLIDAY VOLUNTEERS… YOU’RE AMAZING! 🐾

There’s something pretty special about people who choose to spend their much-needed holiday time helping shelter dogs — getting sweaty, getting mucky, getting covered in mud… and still coming out smiling! 😂🐶

Take Julie for example! She left a villa full of friends behind to come and help us, and we think it’s safe to say she had a brilliant time. ❤️

Our volunteers absolutely loved having her, and the dogs certainly did too! Just look at Julie here — coming out of the park covered in mud and still laughing after playtime with Chase, Cassius, Viana & Danco. 🥰

This is what volunteering is all about. It’s hard work, it can be hot, dirty and tiring, but you are making a huge difference to dogs who have so little. Every walk, every cuddle, every bit of attention and every moment of kindness matters. 💙

And who knows… perhaps while you’re volunteering, one of our dogs might just steal your heart. ❤️🐕

Wherever there’s a cuddle, Goliath is on his way! 😂

You could be forgiven for thinking these photos were taken over several walks… but NOPE! This was all one single walk! 🤣

Goliath spotted four of our lovely volunteers — Nicola, Paula, Marcia and Shiv — and decided it was time to work his way through the cuddle queue. 🥰🐶

And just look at those faces! 😍
We’re not sure who was happier — Goliath or the ladies!

Everyone who knows this gorgeous boy is completely Goliath-struck. 💙 He really is one of those dogs who makes you smile the moment you meet him.

He has a Goliath-sized heart, a huge capacity for love and absolutely no shortage of cuddles to give. ❤️
