Yesterday the big truck arrived from Sweden bringing us two pallets full of all sorts of nice things and it’s how we get our flight kennels back to Spain.
The donated quality dry food is always great to receive and the dogs love the new toys and special treats.

Faith❤️
Yesterday our permanent resident Faith had a few hours at the vets which isn’t her favourite place.
Faith had her teeth cleaned, a manicure (easiest whilst she’s sleeping), another x-ray and part of her big blood test from last month repeated.
Faith has been with us four years now since she was found in a very poor state lying on the track near SOS. Most of the time she’s a happy, fairly lively, funny little Pod and her favourite thing is to spend hours under the ‘rat’ tree living in hope of catching one.
Eighteen months ago Faith was showing signs of pain and the vets finally found the problem. A small piece of wire (that must have been somehow eaten) had gone through her intestines and settled near her colon. Successful surgery should have fixed the problem but she’s never been totally ‘right’ since. Most days she’s perfect but some days are ‘off’ days.
Faith is hopefully finished with the vets for now as she doesn’t enjoy her trips there and of course every visit hits the finances.
Faith is a great example of why lots of animal shelters never seem to have much money. Once a dog gets through our gates we do the best we can but Faith has a big file at the vets including emergency Pyometra surgery, surgery to both knees, scans, x-rays…the list goes on.
Fingers crossed yesterday was the end of it for now.

Today it was the turn of Gina to travel to Sweden and a finally get a new life.
Her new mum Nora has been here volunteering at the finca these last three weeks and she came here with a return ticket that included a dog ticket as Nora sadly said goodbye to her special SOS girl Alice last year and the time was right to fill that empty space. Gina got the golden ticket ❤️
Thank you Nora.

Pup Lia is having her life changing day.
Very early start to get to Malaga airport but the up side to that is she’s already landed in Stockholm and is now with her new mum about to start her road trip home.
Long term volunteer Eva escorted her to Sweden and her new mum Nora was a volunteer here in Spain just a few weeks ago so Lia has the reassurance of being with people she knows.
Lia is such a clever little dog and kennel life was so boring for her. Lots of new things to take in now so she’ll sleep well tonight❤️

Group vets visit yesterday morning. Impossible to get one decent photo🙉
Puppies Peter and Harley, little William and our permanent resident Faith (again).
Big pup Peter really didn’t want to go through the very scary clinic door, then there was a lot of playing going on whilst Faith was attended to, then Peter thought he would take a nap. Harley then lost his confidence and decided to get out of the way and climbed under the table😂

The vets were smiling when we finally went out the door over an hour later😁

Our volunteers that we rely on usually come over from Sweden. We get really nice people of varying ages and backgrounds.

Today is the final day of a two week volunteering stay for Annika and her two lovely daughters Tova and Lovina. They’ve been great and their parting gift is a new dog washing machine (ours died last week) and some money the girls collected for lots of treats for the dogs. A really lovely family and the dogs will miss them tomorrow.
