Rachel was abandoned with her mum and siblings back in February, they were left to fend for themselves, the piglets became separated and disappeared from any sightings. Geraldina, her mum was rescued but it was feared Rachel and the others were gone.

Weeks later, her brother JP was spotted and brought to safety. Then came a big surprise! Rachel was found living in a nearby garden, where kind people had been feeding her and slowly gaining trust.

Thanks to their care and dedication we were finally able to bring Rachel to the Sanctuary and reunite her with the other piggies.

Now she's safe and fully settled in her forever home but she still needs a Sponsor to help cover her food, bedding and vet care.

Happy Saturday everyone! We wanted to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to those who continuely support Sarja and the Animals behind the scenes with their donations and regular sponsorship payments. This weekend we received a generous donation from who raised 200€ for her birthday at last week 🥳

Thank you to all who were involved in raising such a fantastic amount for our cause and a very happy birthday to Claire and for thinking of the animals at Sarja as you danced into your 40's 💃🏻🐾 🙏🏻

my name is Rachel and I live together with my brother JP (Juan-Pablo) in the Sarja Micro-Sanctuary. I was found in a nearby garden, where someone brought us and our mum to left us on our own. My mum Geraldina also lives here at the Sanctuary!

I really like cuddling with my brother and getting belly rubs. And I love eating my food. 🥰

Meet Pincho 🌵The sweetest little soul who recently showed up at the sanctuary, looking for love and safety.

Pincho is FVI positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but don’t let that scare you. Cats with FVI can live long, happy lives with just a bit of extra care. Thanks to Actions for Animals, Pincho has already been castrated and is ready for his forever home!

He’s affectionate, gentle, and desperate for cuddles. All he wants is someone to love and to be loved.

We’re desperately looking for a special home for him where he can be the only cat or live with other FVI-positive feline friends.

What It’s Like to Live in a Sanctuary?

Living in a sanctuary is not always as peaceful as it might sound. Sometimes It’s messy, exhausting, and often filled with tough decisions and heartbreaking moments. There are days when it feels overwhelming—early mornings, late nights, and never-ending tasks. The animals come first, always, and that means putting aside your own comfort, plans, and sometimes even your emotions to do what’s best for them.

But despite the challenges, sanctuary life is deeply rewarding. There are moments of pure joy—seeing an animal take their first steps of freedom, watching them heal, or seen them trust humans again. The bonds formed are unlike anything else. Every life saved, every small victory, and every connection made makes the struggles worth it.

It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s a meaningful one. It teaches patience, resilience, and a love that goes beyond species. And at the end of the day, no matter how tired or heartbroken you might be, you know you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Vivir en un santuario no siempre es tan pacífico como podria parecer. A veces es caótico, agotador y está lleno de decisiones difíciles y momentos desgarradores. Hay días en los se siente abrumador—madrugadas, noches largas y tareas que nunca terminan. Los animales siempre van primero, y eso significa dejar de lado tu propia comodidad, tus planes y, a veces, incluso tus emociones para hacer lo mejor por ellos.

Pero a pesar de los desafíos, la vida en un santuario es profundamente gratificante. Hay momentos de pura alegría—ver a un animal dar sus primeros pasos en libertad, observar cómo sanan o presenciar cómo vuelven a confiar en los humanos. Los lazos que se crean son únicos. Cada vida salvada, cada pequeña victoria y cada conexión hacen que todo el esfuerzo valga la pena.

No es una vida glamorosa, pero sí una llena de significado. Enseña paciencia, resiliencia y un amor que trasciende especies. Y al final del día, por muy cansado o con el corazón roto que estés, sabes que estás exactamente donde debes estar.
