The result of our last session in Belgium: an average of 5.5 embryos per mare. 💚

Over the past several weeks, GENETECH EUROPE and EQUIVET Belgium have been working closely together on a high level - combining experienced veterinary teams, precise mare management, and efficient laboratory coordination throughout every step of the process.

When it comes to oocyte collection, numbers matter - but they’re not everything. 💚

At GENETECH EUROPE, we generally aim to aspirate mares with 15+ follicles to maximize potential outcomes. However, experience continues to show that success is not defined by quantity alone.

What truly makes the difference is how the mare is managed and when she is aspirated within her cycle. Optimal timing and consistent, high-quality mare management are key to achieving the best results.

A great example: one of our long-term monitored mares consistently produces no more than 8 oocytes - however, she maintains consistent embryo production in every session, achieving 6 embryos in the most recent aspiration. Because we know her physiology, her cycle, and her individual patterns, we can optimize every session. This level of precision is only possible through close collaboration between mare owners and our lab.

This is why donor mare well-being and individualized management remain at the core of everything we do. Because in the end, quality will always outperform quantity when the conditions are right.
