"I took part because I wanted to give more visibility to a topic that is often overlooked but essential to food security: safe grain storage."

2️⃣ Has anything changed for you since winning the award, professionally or personally? "YES! Indeed, a lot has changed. Personally, the award has been a source of pride and motivation to continue my work, particularly in advancing technology-driven approaches in animal nutrition that deliver improvements in productivity and efficiency."

For four years, we've been recognizing women who are actively shaping the agricultural and food industry.

🎖️ That's why we're starting a new series today: our winners share what motivated them, what the award means to them. Today we're starting with: Joëlla Buhendwa and Jana Gäbert.

1️⃣ Why did you decide to take part in Women in Ag?
"I wanted to inspire other women who doubt themselves or are afraid to take the first step, by showing that it is possible to overcome barriers and believe in one’s potential."

2️⃣ What does the Women in Ag Award mean to you?
"For me, the Women in Ag Award is more than just an award. It is a deep sense of fulfillment and recognition of the journey and effort invested."

3️⃣ Has anything changed for you since winning the award?
"I have gained greater visibility and credibility in my work. It has also opened more opportunities for partnerships, collaborations, and recognition in the agricultural sector, while reinforcing my determination to continue expanding my impact."

"I wanted to bring in my practical perspective and show how diverse modern agriculture is, while also making the realities and voices from East Germany more visible."

"The award is a recognition of my work and a signal that new approaches are being seen; at the same time, it is both a personal confirmation and a responsibility to actively help shape change."

"I have been more frequently involved in dialogues and discussions and can contribute my perspective more strongly."
