EJF SIlver #1

Olive Whiteknight & McKinley KS debuted together after a very short winter training season. Their partnership growing, capping it off with a WIN in their final undersaddle class.

Kayleigh Nijssen & Canterbrook Drops of Jupiter winter of hardwork paid off with multiple ribbons but more impressively very consistent trips and less ingate gitters!

Allie Pritchard & ADK's What About Me made their debut with flying colours! This team's winter training paid off claiming RESERVE CHAMPION of the XRail Hunters & SECOND in the C Equitation Flat!

Glittercat HD owned by Allie Pritchard tagged along for some fun and learned the ropes of horse showing with the help of Reagan Scott & Delya Gaffney, Gwen is ready to tackle June!

Jennifer Brockwell & Outside Chance are back with new goals! Jennifer rode well despite not being in top form due to an untimely dismount days prior. As always, we are so grateful to have a group of riders that work to support each other. Delya Gaffney took over the reins Sunday catch-riding to a SECOND place in the Puddles 11+.

Madison Parks & Apollo's Odyssey made their debut and continued to strengthen their partnership. Apollo proved to be another great equitation mount for Madison, with a SECOND in the Adult Equitation Flat.

Catherine Greene & A Little De Ja Vu are back for another year with BIG goals! We spent the weekend in our "normal" divisions, knocked off the winter "rust", finished with a WIN in the PUDDLES 11+ and are ready for new challenges in June!

Kaelyn Stronach & Magnolia rocked their first show with a CLEAN SWEEP of the Xrails division finishing CHAMPION! After a rocky start Friday it was a great reminder of how important it is to persevere, do the hard stuff and LEARN!

Mady Lockwood & ADK's Double Take debuted their strong partnership with a great first show! Mady rode to a FOURTH place finish in the Adult Equitation Flat, a true example of the beauty and function of equitation (got a ribbon & stayed on the slightly fresh horse).

A huge THANK YOU to our groom Fiona Robb-Craig, all the ADK parents for supporting all the ADK riders and Tyler & Ashley for keeping everything running at home!

Sweet Angel peacefully passed away last week.

Angel as she was so aptly named. She was a literal Angel sent to make so many kids fall in love ponies. We were so lucky to have had the Burgess family pass her on to ADK when their children outgrew her. Angel was an integral part of ADK's "up-down" lessons for many years. And when it came time for Angel to retire we were able to pass her along to another family for their children to love. ❤️

Angel had spent the last several years enjoying a slower pace with our wonderful vet and her children. We are so fortunate that Angel spent her finals years being loved by little children, soaking up the sun (and a little grass) and had the absolute best care.

Rest easy Angel

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of working with Melissa Cochrane.

Melissa has been part of our team at ADK for many years but it was lovely to work together in a new light. When we first talked about hosting a clinic, I was unsure how to label it, was it bodywork, groundwork?

After spending the morning with Melissa and the group of participants it became more clear that it was really a discussion about horse communication. Melissa helped close the gap between rider and horse, to help clarify behaviors and improve communication.

Melissa gave insightful advice how to improve communication during the basics of leading, grooming and tacking up. Emphasizing the need to sometimes slow down and be more attentive, something that arguably we could all do more of now a days. But she also kept it realistic addressing the reality of life, our fluctuating time constraints and our various goals in (or out) of the saddle.

Overall, it was a morning that sparked a lot of thoughtful discussion amongst the participants and continued to challenge our mindset between a more holistic approach to horsemanship and high performance sport working together.
