300 intakes completed!!!

About an hour ago we accepted our 300th animal into the shelter for 2025. In 2024 we accepted 256 animals. With 3 months left to go we expect upwards of 50 more animals to come into the shelter.

Meet Lo’ak-ADOPTED!!! - and Sully ADOPTED!!!

Lo’ak and Sully are 8 week old male kittens. They are both tabbies and are ready to find their new homes. Their adoption fee is 400$

FOSTER FEATURE - GRIZZLY

There has been no interest in meeting Grizzly and we really can’t figure out why. Grizzly is an approximately 2yr old spayed female. She is a lab cross and is a big girl at around 80lbs.

Grizz came to us with her 3 puppies and they have since been weaned and have all found their own homes. She has been waiting patiently for a few months now and her foster says she is a lovely sweet dog.

Grizzly would do fine in most homes, she would be ok with other dogs with proper introductions and probably be fine with cats. She would do well with children and would thrive in an active family that would be interested in training and enrichment activities. If you would like to meet her please reach out and we can set something up.

Meet Five,

Five is a 2yr old retriever cross. She is a medium sized dog, around 40lbs. She came in with her sister Trinket and while they could be adopted together, they are also fine to adopt on their own. Five is sweet but can be unsure and timid at first and will need a home that can be patient with her.

She would likely be fine with other dogs, cats and children. Five is an escape artist and will need to be kept on leash at first and if left outside will need a secure fenced yard. She would suit an active family. She has been spayed and her adoption fee is 400$

Meet Acorn,

Acorn is a 6 month old male cat with a shorter tail from birth. He has been neutered and is ready for his new home. He would likely be fine in a home with dogs and other cats, he can be a bit nippy.. Which can be typical of a young cat when playing, however due to this he may be best in a home with older children. He has been neutered and his adoption fee is 400$

Who Remembers Jack Daniels?

This boy came to us at the end of February and he was a challenge to find a home for, he was highly dog reactive and didn’t like kids much either. Well about 2 months ago… the right home came for Jack Daniels.

He is now known as Jax, and he is thriving. He is now playing with both other dogs and kids and we couldn’t have asked for a better home or ending for him. We all had a soft spot for Jax and remember his funny antics often. Thank you Christian for believing in Jax and giving him his forever home.

Fridays in the Park – Summer Fun, Thank you for Attending !

Over the summer, we had such a wonderful time at Fridays in the Park! Our team loved the chance to show the community how to properly handle and hold puppies, while also giving the pups some time out in the sunshine. It was a great day of education, connection, and fun.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our “Guess the Items in the Jar” contest — and congratulations to our winner who went home with the goodie basket!

We are so grateful to the City of Whitehorse for inviting us and making this such a memorable summer event. We look forward to more opportunities to connect with our community and share the joy of adoption!
