Break down your ask:
-What pressure are you adding? Does it leave the door to the answer open? Is the cue clear?
-What is the one exact response you want from the horse? Is it something the horse is capable of? Have they done it before?
-Do you know what the right response feels like (not looks like) so you can release the pressure immediately?

If it still isn't working is there something simpler or a smaller building block you can work on in the same wheelhouse? You don't want to completely give up, but at some point you may need to build your horses confidence back up by taking a step back and either rewarding the smallest try in the right direction OR picking a maneuver/task you know the horse can do that is similar to what you were asking for.

She's at it again!

Roaming Rhonda just wanted to see if I could run fast in floral pj's, a winter jacket (it's cold at 7 am!) and flip-flops. Yes, flip-flops. 🩴

She found out. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ I'm currently searching for the flop I lost (I have flip) in the final dash for the gate -- I'm fast half barefoot too!)

She crawled in from a -different- pasture this time. FRESH pasture. In her defense, a busted lawnmower has the lawn looking a lil like pasture at the moment. But, my guuuuurl, have you heard of fences?!

I think she secretly likes me & wants to be a yard pet. If she keeps it up, I'm going to halter train her & turn her into a yard pet/milk cow. And get her a bell. And put her in a goat-safe page wire fence.
