Our hearts are broken 💔

It is with the heaviest of hearts and tears in our eyes, that we write this update tonight.

Due to the extent of George Cooney’s injuries, along with the odds of recovery being low, we chose to say goodbye to this sweet, sweet boy. Not even a year old, and with so much love to give, we had to make the very tough decision to lay George to rest.

This boy was shown the most love he had ever felt, in the week he was in care of the West Lorne Vet team. With every single one of those ladies by his side, cheering him on, and holding him in his last moments so that he knew he was loved, and so that he knew he would no longer be left alone and abandoned.

Our hearts hurt, their hearts hurt, and we are all left wishing we had just one more minute of snuggling that beautiful boy.

We want to thank Dr. Jake and Dr. Jared for performing such a high-risk surgery which was the first necessary step to trying to save his life.

We want to thank every single Wandering Whiskers supporter who donated toward his cost of care, and to all the people sending all of their energy, and prayers his way.

One of our objectives at Wandering Whiskers Cat Rescue, is to give a voice to animals because they do not have one.

We encourage every single person to advocate for animals who fall under Animal Welfare Services support services. Abandonment and cruelty is unacceptable. George’s story is no different

Sweet boy, you were loved, and your life mattered, and we will never stop fighting on behalf of you and all of them.
