🐾 Ask the Pet Nanny: Do you actually sleep well during overnight stays?

If I'm only staying for one or two nights? Probably not. 😂

But I promise, it's not you. It's me.

I am a super light sleeper, and sometimes my brain needs a little convincing that we're allowed to sleep somewhere that isn't my own bedroom.

It could be the bed. The temperature. The amount of light in the room. A dog shifting positions. An unfamiliar house sound. Whether there's a TV in the bedroom. Basically, my brain can find approximately 47 reasons to wake me up. 😂

If I'm staying for 3+ nights, I usually start sleeping much better once I've gotten used to the space. And if it's a home I've stayed in several times before, my brain tends to recognize it as familiar territory much faster.

I've also developed a couple sleep tricks since I started offering overnight care:
📱 White noise on my phone to drown out unfamiliar house sounds
💻 Bringing my laptop because I fall asleep to a movie or TV show, and no bedroom TV = potentially a very long night
😴 Occasionally bringing my own pillow, although physical comfort usually isn't the problem

And yes, if your dog normally sleeps in bed, they're welcome to pile in with me! Cats, unfortunately, have to keep their distance because of my allergies. 🤧

So do I sleep as well at overnight bookings as I do in my own bed?

Usually not.

But give me a few nights and some white noise, and we'll get there. 😂🐾💛

Okay, just a little sappy Pet Nanny moment. 😂❤️🐾

I seriously need to say THANK YOU to everyone who tags me when they see someone looking for a pet sitter.

Every time I open a post and see my name tagged, it makes me smile. But then I see comments like “She’s the only person we trust with our babies,” or “Our dogs LOVE her,” or “They get so excited when we tell them Sarah is coming!” and... well, now you're just trying to make me cry. 🥹😂

Word of mouth is HUGE for a little business like mine. You trusting me with your furry family members is already something I don't take for granted, but trusting me enough to recommend me to someone else? That means so freaking much to me.

So whether you've tagged me in a Facebook post, passed my name along to a friend, shared my page, or told someone “Message Sarah!"... thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤️

Now please stop saying such nice things about me in public because I am emotional and cannot handle it. 😂🐾
