There were many legs to her journey but Desi is now in her forever home!
Back in November Desi was surrendered by her owner to the vet clinic we routinely use in Guanajuato who called me to see if I could take her in as they considered her very adoptable. She stayed with me at my home/shelter for five months. We flew from Leon to Puerto Vallarta and on to Vancouver, stayed the night and took the ferry to Victoria. Desi then spent three weeks in a wonderful foster home with Tammy, then on to Kelowna thanks to Susan so kindly giving her a ride. Desi was picked up by her adopter Karen and rode to her new forever home in the Kootenays.
Wow, what a journey little Desi!
Have a wonderful life little sweetie! ❤️

Thank you PAULINE AND LUC for adopting this little gem of a dog, NOVA (formerly Morena). 💓.

Nova met Pauline when Tania brought her into Four Paws Pet Grocery & Boutique while looking after her for a few days. That's when the magic began and shortly afterwards Pauline and Luc began the two-week trial period with Nova.

Many thanks as well to Julia Salido in Guanajuato who had the opportunity to take in a few neglected small dogs from a hoarding situation and allow Mex-Can to offer them for adoption. And, to Jess (adopter of Poly, now George) for fostering her in Victoria.

Possibly one of the cutest dog in the world! 😉❤️Look how well little Fiona is doing! Her foster home has been doing a great job at nourishing her physically and emotionally, and it shows! When she was found on the highway near Leon, Mexico (pregnant) by Paulina and Martha of the Fundación Corazon Animal she was a scraggly, skinny mess but now she sports a beautifully thick and fluffy coat and is an absolute joyful little being.
This week she goes to the vet to follow up on some bloodwork. Stay tuned.

Who remembers this guy, GOOSE?

Over the last few months it has been a challenge for him and for us since his previous owners surrendered him back to us in October. Fair enough.... he bit someone and as well a baby was welcomed into the family. It was no longer a safe environment. Frustrating but it happens, thankfully not often. We do not have a shelter in Victoria where he could go and I contemplated sending him back to the shelter in Mexico. Well, that was met with a huge outcry from the keyboard warriors out there. But, many people reached out with honest concern and offers, none of which would have been suitable for Goose, sadly.
Thankfully, Mia Stachowski at Mission Accomplished K9 Services took Goose for a short period and then wonderful Bethany and Danielle, offered to foster him for the five months I was back in my shelter in Guanajuato. He got the best imaginable care and attention, and all precautions were taken to ensure no more bites. Some of you may have seen the updates here. He lived with four chihuahuas at their home, however it was apparent they stressed him out. Volunteers Simon came to walk him as well as Debbie, who absolutely adores Goose but cannot take him due her current living situation.
All this time he was available for adoption to the right person.
Now I'm back in Victoria and where is Goose? With me! He is living with my two older, larger ladies Agnes and Nella. He loves Agnes and they play. Goose is learning the rules at the house and loves going for his walks. He is muzzled on his walks as a precaution. He is still reactive to some dogs, mostly smaller ones. His appetite is fantastic and he sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He loves working for his spins, sits, downs, and paws.
Goose is now around 8-9 years of age.
I have decided he will now be another of my own dogs. Let's be honest, no one wants a dog with a bite history.
So, here I am with three of my own dogs in Victoria and ten resident dogs and two cats at my home/shelter in Guanajuato, Mexico. Life has just got more complicated.

Meet ADOPTABLE Dulce 💛
Full vaccinated, spayed, dewormed, flea/tick prevention, blood analysis and blood parasite tested negative.

Dulce is an adorable, scruffy bundle of joy full of curiosity and playfulness. Still very much a puppy, she’s full of energy and enthusiasm for life! She absolutely loves playing with her doggy friends, romping around, and a good game of fetch.

After she’s had enough exercise, Dulce is more than happy to wind down and enjoy some cozy couch snuggles with her favourite humans. She would thrive in an active home that can give her plenty of outlets for her energy—think long walks, hikes, playtime, interactive toys, and training sessions (she’s eager to learn!).

Dulce would do best in a home where someone is around at least part of the day, as she may struggle being left alone for long periods. She is crate trained and that's where she sleeps at night and for breaks during the day. A house with a fenced yard would be ideal for her to safely run and play. Because of her energetic, puppy-like nature, she’s not suited for apartment or condo living.

She could happily share her home with another dog, but she hasn’t been tested with cats. While she shows interest in children during walks, her rambunctious personality means a home without young kids is recommended.

If you’re looking for a fun, active, and affectionate companion, Dulce might just be your perfect match 🐾

UPDATE ON DULCE. ADOPTABLE!

If you are an ACTIVE couple or individual that can provide adequate, consistent outings and training sessions (yourself or with a trainer), this girl could be for you. She's full of life and eager to learn.
If you can't provide these things then an apartment or condo environment is not for her. A home with a fenced yard and an active lifestyle is what she needs.
She loves romping, playing and just being goofy as she is still very young, and she's quite vocal. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night.
She can live with another canine if they are also playful and tolerant of her puppy shenanigans. She's great playing ball and will retrieve and drop.
Please no young children in the home as managing that as well as a growing puppy is too much to ask. If there are older children then everyone needs to be on the same page in regards to her development. There are too many dogs on rehoming pages now that no longer "fit into changing lifestyles and environments".
Seems very difficult these days to find homes even for dogs that previously would be highly adoptable and desirable.
Dulce is coming to Vancouver/Victoria at the end of March
