Great info, more and more dogs are getting liver issues due to the high percentage of organ meats and fat in manufactured raw dog food, of which many are now entirely swapping out lean and good cuts for organs and offal, check your food content ingredients - the order of each item tells a clear story on the quality. And vet-recommended does not always mean healthy, many of thoe vets either work at veterinary clinics bought up by large food manufacturers and investment companies, or they've been trained at vet schools sponsored heavily by the biggest food manufacturers like Hershey and Mars, yes, you read that right. The Hershey and Mars that has become rich on selling junk food for humans - they have also taken over a large segment of the petfood industry - think Royal Canine - first ingredients - wheat, corn and by-products. A little research and reading of ingredients is so worth your time, it may solve mysterious soft p**p problems, allergies, obesity, and inflammation issues in your pet, and possibly even extend their life by eliminating liver and/or heart issues.

I have seen this herb save so many lives, literally drop elevated liver enzymes🩸 by half in just a few weeks!!

According to multiple studies, if you have a dog (or cat) with liver issues and you aren’t already giving your pets’ milk thistle (silymarin), you are missing out on the most important liver-restoring, ā€œlife-savingšŸ†˜" herb on the planet!

Just released last week, a new study on milk thistle showed the herb had incredible hepatoprotective properties when fed to dogs. ā€œHepatoprotectionā€ is the ability of a substance to prevent liver damage.

Not only does it help to regenerate a damaged liver, but it’s also anti-aging according to longevity researchers!

In our new book, The Forever Dog, Dr. Karen Becker and I have it listed in our ā€œSupplemental Habits for a Long and Healthy Lifeā€ section as one of our most important supplements to rotate into a dog’s🐶 diet plan. We also list the best ā€œdetoxā€ dosešŸ„„ to give a dog using the latest research. Available for pre-order now: https://foreverdog.com/about/

What a privilege to spend time with this dynamic and super sweet duo. Cassi enjoyed them every bit as much as I did and we looking forward to seeing them again soon. Cassi, my little copilot, also loves a little Chihuahua with a touch of spice. It's what makes them such an inedibly charming breed. It's because of pups like this that I only work with pet parents over pet owners. I too take comfort when I say goodbye knowing when I leave that I leave them in great hands. šŸ’•

Do you try to eat lower processed foods and avoid high carbs? Our dogs can also be better nourished doing the same, if we don't have time to cook our own dogfood, the next best thing is to buy freeze dried or low processed foods that start with real animal proteins and contain less low nutrition carbs - look at the order of the ingredients and how it is processed - freeze dried, dehydrated and baked still preserve nutrients unlike the high heat ultra processed. Dogs need real whole foods just like we do, and it doesn't have to be expensive - even healthy table scraps without the salt and spices can make a huge difference. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Dr Dr. Karen Becker's suggestions.

Even when we're just relaxing at home, pets seem to find their way to Cassi and I. As I opened my apartment door, this gorgeous Sphynx cat, George, sauntered up to my door in an empty hallway. The door of his apartment was left open, and his owner, my new neighbour, was unaware and out. Needless to say, I kept my door open to keep an eye on him until she returned, and he immediately made himself at home, explored every inch in every room, and gave little Cassi many smooches (I think she thought we were rescuing another stray and felt it her duty to be the welcome wagon againšŸ˜„ ) What a treat, on return, his owner was happy to see that he was safe, sound and quite content. Cassi and I were quickly smitten. Does your dog love cats?🄰

It was such a pleasure looking after sweet W***y and helping him get adjusted to sharing company with a pooch. He took so quickly to little Cassi, and soon started followed her all around, and even regularly and calmly bumping noses with her as if acknowledging her. What an adorable, chill pud who loves to perch in the flowers spying on the neighbors and the birds.... those curled up paws while watching Cas like a movie, just kills me šŸ˜

It's not too often we have to go to Vernon but when we do, we always make time for Mission Hill Dog Park, it's beautiful and even has a great prank for you and your pooches. All 3 of us were fooled into thinking this kitty was real!! - gave me such a good belly laugh šŸ˜‚

Therein lies the difference between a cat and a dog - and why it's impossible to love just one! We can be EQUALLY cat AND dog people. We DON'T have to choose - they are wonderful and perfect each in their own way. 🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰

It all started last Tuesday.

The dogs had just come back from their 4th walk of the day—because heaven forbid they touch grass less than six times before noon. They were muddy, exhausted, and emotionally needy (as usual).

But when they walked into the living room… she was there.
Midnight.
The cat.
The shadow.
The law.

She was sitting dead center on the couch.
No expression. No movement. Just staring. Judging. Daring.

ā€œHey Midnight,ā€ the Labrador started, tail wagging.
ā€œMind scooting over a bit?ā€

She didn’t blink. Didn’t breathe. Just curled her tail closer to the cushions like she had just claimed the throne in Game of Bones.

That’s when the chaos began.

The dogs knew the rules:
• No eye contact.
• No sudden movements.
• Absolutely no touching the sacred couch space once it was claimed by The Void Queen.

But they were tired. They were desperate. They made… a plan.

Step 1: Send in the golden retriever. The friendliest. The softest. The least threatening.
He got within two feet before she blinked—once. He backed off immediately and began forming a support group.

Step 2: Form a dog stack.
If you can’t share the couch beside her… you build vertically.
One by one, they climbed.
The pit mix.
The shepherd.
The hound with commitment issues.
The dog that ate drywall that one time.

It was teamwork. It was architecture. It was desperation.

And there she sat—unbothered, unmoved, unrelenting—on her 12-inch throne like a house panther who paid rent.

Not a single growl. Not a single meow.

Just a slow, smug blink that whispered:
ā€œThis entire couch belongs to me. You may occupy the air above it.ā€

And that’s how one cat ruled five dogs with nothing but quiet confidence, passive aggression, and eyes that said,
ā€œI don’t need claws. I have presence.ā€
