Great day to have fun and support a good cause!
TWO DAYS TO GO—and we’re asking our community to rally around us. 💛

With so much uncertainty across our region and many of us wondering whether the smoke would clear, advance ticket sales for this year’s Family Fun Day have been slower than last year.

But the skies are beginning to clear—and on Saturday, we’ll be here, ready to welcome you.

If you’re looking for something joyful and meaningful to do with your family this weekend, we hope you’ll spend the day with us.

Our ever-popular DIY dried-flower crown station is returning! Choose from an abundance of flowers grown and dried right here on our farm, then create a beautiful crown that is entirely your own.

And these crowns aren’t just for children. At Roots & Blues, we watched just as many women as children sit down, get creative and leave wearing flowers in their hair. There is something beautifully freeing about giving yourself permission to play, create and wear a crown of flowers—no matter your age.

Come for the flower crowns, games, bounce house, goats, SASCU Splash Zone, picnic spaces, farm concession and four joyful hours together.

Come knowing that your afternoon at the farm carries a purpose far beyond the day itself.

Family Fun Day is one of only two major fundraisers we host on our farm each year. Every ticket, activity and purchase helps U Grow Girl create and offer our free Time To Heal Retreat for women who have survived childhood sexual abuse.

If you’ve been waiting to see what the smoke would do, this is your invitation. Please purchase your tickets, invite your friends and family, and help us fill the farm with laughter, flowers and love.

Because when our community gathers around survivors, it reminds them that they are not alone. 💛

Not sure who is responsible for the change in perspective?!
The rumour is Pie decided a change was needed, a broader outlook.

Often, when something breaks – a relied upon object, a relationship, a lifestyle, a situation – a new perspective is needed.
The ‘break’ requires we look at things differently.

We have a habit of seeing the world through a narrow lens.
Our beliefs determine what we see, and often we are unaware of our actual beliefs.

To perceive things in a new way, often a significant change is necessary.
A change that forces us to develop new beliefs.

Reading David Whyte’s ‘Consolations’, I am invited to see the meanings of particular words differently.

His interpretations of ‘anger’ and ‘hiding’ invite me to see this everyday feeling and this everyday behaviour through a different lens, a more compassionate lens.

By changing my meaning of a word, aspects of my world change, including how I interpret my own behaviour, how I see myself.

It is this experience we are inviting people to have on Friday, August 7th.

With the help of the Herd, we will explore what our soul has to tell us about specific words.

To register, email Wendy at [email protected].
Cost is $100 for a two hour workshop – 10am until noon.

The horses are very good at helping us connect to our subconscious, as well as helping us connect to feelings that want our attention.

By turning our attention inwards and scanning the body, we can hear our soul whispering (sometimes shouting) messages we benefit from hearing.

The presence of the Herd makes it easier to hear those enlightening messages.

We are offering a workshop with the horses focused on our personal meanings associated with specific words.

The workshop is inspired by the poet David Whyte, who has written two books (Consolations I & II) wherein he contemplates the true meanings of specific words.

He has obviously turned inwards and really listened to his soul, as the messages are highly compassionate and helpful.

Come join the Herd, Cara and I for a nourishing two hours of self-discovery.

Reflective time with the Herd

Find your inner wisdom and take time to listen…

Get past your socialization, past the beliefs you learned from others, and hear your innate truth.

Combining the meditative practice of focusing, while in the presence of the horses, we will hear our soul’s longing connected to words.

Words such as ‘home’ and ‘belonging’ and ‘destiny’.

Let the horses help you connect to your subconscious, and hear how one word activates your inner wisdom, which gifts you a message from your soul.

As David Whyte, the poet, says, words are doorways that facilitate a deepening of our self-awareness.

He claims that words are alive and speak to us.

They are one way to connect to your inner world.

This is a two hour workshop.

Friday, August 7th at 10am until noon

The cost is $100 per person.

There are a maximum of six spots.

During an equine-assisted therapy session, not only the humans are receiving support, nourishment, love and new perspectives.

The horses themselves are often receiving rejuvenation, as well as support unwinding their own histories.

This spring, there have been moments during various sessions when Molly, the sweetheart pony, has clearly been working through her own, old stories.

In one session, we were focused on the soul’s associations with ‘home’.

‘What is home to me?’

Molly walked right up to me, asking about her home.

Like many horses, she has moved from one place to another, repeatedly.

I told her, this is your forever home.

I told her it is safe to root here.

I sent her the imagery of roots coming from her four hooves.

It took a couple of days before I sensed that she was truly rooting.

She is clearly curious about what goes on here, and has a willingness to embrace the different opportunities for herself.

She is open to create a new story whereby she is recognized for who she is, and whereby her gifts are celebrated.

Welcome home Molly!
