While walking through the farm stuff at the co-op (getting fencing supplies) I came across the anti-kick bars that I had friends recommend for milking. I grabbed the two that were there to try them yesterday and it was so easy and worked!

Mocha doesn't really kick much anymore (when she has enough grain 😆) but occassionally get impatient and swat at us gently, however gently for a cow still hurts 😂 Only kicked the milk bucket over once since we started milking but I figure since I am pregnant and just going to get more awkward and slow at milking, its best to have it as a precaution.

I tested it out and it worked really well! Basically it just hooks under the little skin flap with a little rubber end, it doesn't hurt and is still comfortable but it prevents them from lifting up and kicking.

Game changer!!

Everyone meet Charlotte (Spotted) and Ruby (Red)! 🥲

These two girls are young 75% KuneKune and 25% Berkshire piggies. They will producing bacon bits next year 😉 for now they will be well loved! Im already pretty impressed with their calmness. Growing up on the farm, we had the bigger pigs and these guys have a much different temperment!!
I was able to unload them into a dog crate and bring them to the barn myself, no hassle at all from them 🥰

While sharing some photos from a small road trip to the lake, we would like to introduce a new forever face to the home... This is Rugar! 🥰

Rugar is a 3yo Caucasian Shepherd and will be joining Oakley as a fellow yard/guard/family dog! We have been wanting to add another outdoor dog to the homestead for a while now but we were trying to finalize buying the house and other priorities, and I was being picky with what I wanted joining the family.
We picked him up this weekend and so far we are pretty impressed with him, and can't wait to see how things go while he gets more comfortable 😍

We are told he enjoys truck rides so we decided to take everyone for a drive to the lake and safe to say it was a fun little trip 🫶
