BC SPCA Chilliwack Animal Centre: London and Louie!

"Hello,
Just wanted to email today to say thank you for giving me the chance to give London and Louie a home! They have both brought so much joy to my life. Just wanted to provide you a little update on my babies and show that just like before I adopted they are inseparable! They're always playing and sleeping together and grooming each other!"

Thank you Dave for the incredible pictures and update on your two babies!! They definitely look bonded! We truly appreciate you staying in touch and giving these two the best life possible, thank you ❤

❤️After 306 days in our care, Pluto has officially been adopted from the BC SPCA Victoria Animal Centre!

This magical little bunny waited patiently for 10 whole months for her perfect match, and the wait was so worth it. Her new family made the journey all the way from the mainland to es**rt the queen back to her castle, how fitting for such a regal little bun. 👑

Pluto first came into our care last year through our Animal Protection Services department when her and another rabbit were left behind when their owner moved out. Sadly, Pluto and the other bunny didn’t get along and were separated. While her former housemate was adopted shortly after, Pluto continued to wait. We suspect her vision impairment may have made some folks hesitant to adopt her, but those who know Pluto know that being a special needs bun never slowed her down.

We’re so grateful to everyone who played a part in Pluto’s happy ending: from staff and volunteers to her dedicated foster families and veterinary team. And of course, thank you to Pluto’s wonderful new family for seeing her light and giving her the loving home she deserves. 🐰💛

❤️Gerald and Edison are a bonded pair looking for a loving home together. Both of them are quiet souls still learning to trust the world around them. Naturally shy at first, they are making great progress every day and starting to come out of their shell with gentle voices and calm handling.

They’d thrive in a calm environment where they can feel safe and move at their own pace. Whether you’re a first-time guinea pig guardian or a seasoned small pet lover, these sweet boys are ready to steal your heart! Give them the time and care they deserve, and they will reward you with trust, quiet companionship, and the softest little squeaks.

Both are picking up very quickly to use the litterbox as they are smart and eager to please. Meet Gerald and Edison at https://ow.ly/jelc50W8wI1. | BC SPCA Burnaby ❤️

Help make organic farming even better for animals!

Did you know that the Canadian Organic Standards are being reviewed? Buying organic is already a good choice when looking to support higher-welfare practices, but your voice is needed to ensure that animal welfare continues to improve on organic farms.

The BC SPCA has been actively involved in the review process, and an updated draft of the standards is now ready for your input! The public comment period is open until July 29 – take action now to help shape the future of organic farming in Canada!

As this is a technical process to participate in, we have developed a guide to help you submit your feedback and provided suggested comments on areas where we would like to see animal welfare improvements made.

Learn more and take action ⤵

The Canadian Organic Standards are reviewed once every five years. Your input today can help shape farming practices for years to come.

💗Dusty💗 is a gentle, senior cat looking for a quiet, loving retirement home. She has previously lived with both cats and dogs, and with slow introductions and calm companions, she should settle in well with other pets.

Dusty enjoys spending time in her cozy hiding spots, patiently waiting for gentle pets-and her absolute favorite thing: treats! She’s the perfect match for someone with a big heart who’s looking to share their home with a calm, older companion.

❤️Happy adoption update: Hagrid, from our BC SPCA Burnaby Animal Centre!

After being one of our long-term residents, Hagrid finally found his forever home—and we couldn’t be happier! 💛 This big-hearted boy waited so patiently, and now he’s off to start the next chapter of his life filled with love, cuddles, and adventures. Hagrid stole all of our hearts with his goofy grin, loyal nature, and gentle soul. Watching him walk out the doors with his new family was nothing short of magical. To everyone who rooted for him, shared his posts, and never stopped believing—thank you. Hagrid's happy ending is a reminder that every shelter pet deserves a chance. 💫

Go live your best life, Hagrid! We’ll miss you, but we’re so thrilled for what’s ahead.

Meet Jenny – Loyal, Loving, and Looking for Her Second Chance 💛

Jenny is an 8-year-old Doberman-Shepherd mix with a soulful gaze and a heart that’s been waiting far too long for a place to call home.

Her journey hasn’t been easy. Jenny’s moved through a few homes, and her most recent chapter left her alone, found as a stray along a highway near Hope, BC. No one came forward to claim her-but Jenny hasn’t stopped believing that the right person is still out there.

While much of her past remains a mystery, one thing is clear: Jenny is a resilient, loyal companion who forms deep bonds with the people she trusts. She’s affectionate, intelligent, and still loves life’s little pleasures-like sniffy walks, food puzzles, and curling up in a cozy spot near her human.

That said, Jenny isn’t your average easy-going dog. She’s shown some resource guarding in care-meaning she can be protective of her space, food, or toys. She communicates well and hasn’t caused harm, but she needs someone who can listen to her signals and create a safe, structured environment where she feels secure.
