She is also a FitPAWS Master Trainer using specialized equipment to improve flexibility and strength as part of a rehabilitation regime. All rehabilitation exercises are performed with authorisation from the referring veterinarian. Massage can help in maintaining an animal's level of health and fitness by decreasing muscular tension, assist in rehabilitation from an injury or illness, enhance show dogs' performance potential, improve proprioception for those with neurological deficits, and contribute to reducing mental anxiety. 🐕New research from the Royal Veterinary College has revealed that three-legged dogs use different movement strategies at different speeds, including a gallop-like gait at higher speeds that resembles movement in four-legged dogs.
It gives important new insights about limb loss which could help inform both rehabilitation strategies for canine amputees.
🤖 The findings may also help inform the development of adaptive legged robots capable of responding to limb loss.
