Founded in 2000, MEOW Foundation is a cat-focused registered charity and humane society with a no-kill mandate located in Calgary, Canada.

MEOW Foundation is a Calgary-based no-kill registered charity that rescues and adopts stray and abandoned cats, and provides valuable community programs.

*Please note, visits are by appointment only* We rescue and facilitate the adoption of stray and abandoned cats into new, loving permanent homes. We work hard to match each MEOW cat with the best possible home based on his or her personality, hi

story, habits and individual needs. In addition to our Rescue and Adoption program, MEOW Foundation offers a subsidized Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Cat Food Assistance Program and Trap Neuter Return (TNR) Program. Our volunteers and staff are passionate about providing the best care to every cat and dedicated to providing the best services to our supporters. We believe that through the dedication and compassion of people across the planet, we will create a society that respects the animals with whom we share the world. Ranger has been in MEOW care for 574 days and counting. The way to his heart? Catnip! He is a charming cat, but is meant for someone who has a bit more cat experience and understands body language and petting thresholds.

Due to Ranger's time as a tough street guy, he has contracted Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Cats with FIV should be single cats in the home, but can live long happy lives with normal attentive care.

In 2019, MEOW Foundation opened its flagship thrift shop! MEOW Charity Thrift Shop North opened its doors at 336 41 Ave NE, in May2019, giving Calgarians a great way to shop secondhand while supporting a cause close to the heart.

The North shop quickly became a bustling hub for thrifters, donors, and volunteers alike. With unique treasures on every shelf—from stylish clothing and vintage finds to housewares and books—it’s a great place to browse, save money, and make a difference.

100% of proceeds from (now) both thrift locations support MEOW Foundation’s work rescuing and rehoming cats across Calgary. Whether you’re dropping off donations, lending a hand as a volunteer, or popping in to shop, you’re helping cats get the second chance they deserve.

Pleased to meet you — I’m Zed. I was originally trapped through MEOW’s TNR program in a rural area just outside Calgary, but it quickly became clear that I was meant for a life of companionship. Now, I’m part of the adoption program and settling into this new chapter with quiet optimism.

I spend my days exploring tunnels, lounging in cozy nooks, and greeting my feline roommates with soft chirrups. I can be a little shy at first, but approach me calmly and gently, and I’ll likely meet you with curiosity and lean into your kind words and soft pets.

🐾 What is TNR and why does it matter? 🐾

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane and effective way to help Calgary’s feral cats—and it’s a big part of what we do at MEOW Foundation. 💙

Feral cats are unowned and unsocialized, meaning they can’t be adopted into homes. But that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve care and protection. Through our TNR program, these cats are:

✔️ Humanely trapped
✔️ Spayed or neutered
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Microchipped
✔️ Returned to their home territory
✔️ Supported by community caregivers

TNR stops the cycle of overpopulation, reduces suffering, and helps feral cats live healthier lives. It’s not just a quick fix—it’s a long-term solution that works.

Since 2001, MEOW has worked alongside compassionate Calgarians to make TNR possible, and we continue to provide support and resources to communities caring for feral colonies. 🐱

My name is Sputnik—yes, like the satellite—but don’t worry, I’m not aiming for space. I much prefer having my paws firmly on the ground (or sprawled out on a cozy perch). I arrived at MEOW with my siblings, Cosmos and Hubble, after we couldn’t stay in our previous home. Life here has been a big adjustment, but I’m taking it all in stride.

Every day brings a new adventure—chasing toys, zooming through tunnels, scaling cat trees like a pro, and then collapsing into a well-earned nap. I’m sweet and gentle, and if you offer me your hand, I’ll happily lean in for some scritches. I’ve made great progress since arriving, and I’m learning more and more that people can be pretty great.

✨ Part-time Intake Specialist – Help care for cats by providing daily care, handling supplies, driving to vet appointments, and providing lots of love.
✨ Fund Development Officer – Build relationships with donors, businesses, and the community to support our fundraising efforts.

💙 Thank you to all who participated in our check-in challenge! 💙

At our 25th anniversary party, we drew the winner, and we're thrilled to congratulate Eric Z, the lucky winner. We hope that everyone who participated in the challenge was able to find a new treasure at our thrift shops or get in some kitty love at Regal Cat Café.

Just because our check-in challenge is over doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to visit our retail locations regularly. You never know what you'll find at our thrift shops, what cat will catch your eye and heart in the Kitty Kingdom, or you might even find a new favourite beverage at our café.
