What an absolutely INCREDIBLE turnout tonight!
45+ dogs. 45+ humans. And somehow everyone made it home with the same dog they arrived with. Kidding! Kidding! 😂

Seriously though THANK YOU.

Thank you to everyone who came out, brought their dogs, tried the confidence stations, laughed with us, supported each other and helped make tonight so much fun.

The confidence stations were a HUGE hit! Some dogs absolutely crushed them, some needed a little convincing, and some were pretty sure we had completely lost our minds.

And a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who showed up with donations for our Pet Pantry. 🥹❤️ Seeing people walk in carrying food and supplies for pets in our community means more than I can put into words.

This is exactly what we hoped these meet ups would become: people getting out with their dogs, having fun, meeting other dog people and building an awesome little community together.

We already have some pretty big ideas brewing for next summer, and after seeing tonight’s turnout, I think we’re going to need more pylons LOL.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for supporting these events, supporting our Pet Pantry, supporting local businesses and most importantly, supporting each other!

This community is becoming something pretty freaking special. And we’re just getting started.

Also thank you Mikayla for being our guest trainer tonight! You were a valuable part of tonight’s meet up Nose to Toes K9 Training!

Okay, Timmins… you guys SHOWED UP. 🥹🐾💜

A HUGE thank you to Gerry & Tracey, D.C, Marielle, Terri and Holly for the incredible donations to our Pet Pantry. Between cat food, dog food, litter and other supplies, this is going directly back into helping pets right here in our community. 🐕🐈🐇

And this is exactly why we started the Pet Pantry.

Sometimes families hit a rough patch. Sometimes the difference between struggling and getting through the week is simply knowing there’s a bag of food available for their pet. If we can help keep a pet fed, cared for, and at home with the family who loves them, that matters. ❤️

We currently have:
🐱 Cat food
🐶 Dog food
🐾 Litter
🐇 Rabbit food — limited availability
🐱 Litter boxes — limited availability

If you or someone you know needs a little help, there is absolutely no shame in reaching out. Visit www.thenortherncollarclub.com and submit a request under Pet Pantry.

This isn’t something The Northern Collar Club is doing alone. This is something our COMMUNITY is doing together. 💜 Every bag donated. Every can. Every container of litter. Every share. It all adds up.

And somewhere in Timmins, it means another pet gets to go to bed tonight with a full belly and their favourite human beside them. 🥹🐾

Together, we’re keeping pets with the families who love them.

Thank you, Timmins. Seriously. 💜

First things first, this is NOT a formal training class.

It’s a guided community meet up designed to give you an opportunity to practise with your dog in a real world environment, around other dogs and people, while working at YOUR dog’s pace.

And part of tonight isn’t just about training the dogs.

It’s about training us humans to advocate for them, too.

❤️ USE YOUR VOICE. ADVOCATE FOR YOUR DOG.

If your dog needs more space, say so.

“Can you give us a little more room?”
“My dog isn’t ready to say hello.” You are not being rude. You are giving your dog what they need to be successful.

One of the most important skills a reactive dog owner can develop is recognizing “this is getting too difficult” BEFORE the dog has to communicate it for them.

Don’t wait for the barking, lunging or big reaction before creating space. Watch your dog. Notice the early signs. Advocate and move.

And everyone attending: if someone asks you for more space, give it to them. No questions, no judgement. ❤️

SOCIALIZATION DOESN’T MEAN “GO SAY HI”

Especially with reactive dogs, socialization isn’t about meeting every dog and person. It’s about learning how to exist comfortably in the world around them.

👉 See another dog without needing to meet them.
👉 Watch people walk past.
👉 Experience different sights, sounds and environments.
👉 Learn to settle while things happen nearby.
👉 Check back in with their handler.
👉 Discover that another dog appearing does not require an immediate FBI investigation. 😂

Sometimes one of the best social skills we can teach a dog is:

“You don’t have to interact.”

❤️ REACTIVE & NERVOUS DOGS ARE WELCOME.

This is a judgement free zone.

Your dog needs 40 feet? Take 40 feet.

Your dog needs to step away for five minutes? Step away.

Your dog has a reaction? Create space, regroup and try again.

Getting closer isn’t automatically progress.

Sometimes the biggest win of the night is your dog seeing another dog from across the pavilion and thinking:

“Oh. A dog.”

Instead of:

“THIS IS THE BIGGEST EVENT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.” 😂

🦴 BRING YOUR DOG’S PAYCHEQUE!

Bring whatever actually motivates YOUR dog.

🥩 High-value treats
🎾 Favourite ball
🪢 Tug toy
🦴 Favourite reward

Food isn’t motivating for every dog. Find out what makes your dog think: “Okay… you have my attention.”

🐕 A FEW SAFETY RULES

Please use a leash under 6 feet (shorter is better in this environment.)

All training tools are welcome. We ask that equipment is used responsibly and that handlers maintain safe physical control of their dogs.

Reactive and nervous dogs are welcome. Dogs displaying aggression that cannot safely participate around other dogs are not appropriate for this meet up.

And please respect each other’s space. No dog needs to greet another dog tonight.

💜 Nose To Toes K9 Training is joining us as our guest trainer!

⭐ DON’T FORGET THE REVIEW GIVEAWAY!

If you’ve had a positive experience with The Northern Collar Club, leave us a Facebook review before 8 PM tonight for your chance to win:

🎁 $25 Dabrowski’s Gift Card
🐾 $25 Pet Valu Gift Card

🥫🐾 PET PANTRY DONATIONS ARE ALSO WELCOME!

Look for the 4Runner and the white Tacoma both will be accepting pet food, cat litter and other pet supplies for the Pet Pantry. ❤️

Tonight isn’t about having the best behaved dog there. It’s about learning your dog, respecting their threshold, advocating when they need help, building confidence and having some fun while doing it.

Keep your distance. Use your voice. Go at your pace. Join in when your dog is ready.

The girls are currently wondering what the heck is going on in their living room. Cones everywhere. Poles everywhere. Wobble boards appearing out of nowhere.

SNEAK PEEK at a few of the confidence building stations we’re putting together for tomorrow night!

These might look simple to us, but asking a dog to navigate unfamiliar surfaces, step over obstacles, balance, problem solve and try something new can do SO much for building confidence. 💪🐕

Can’t wait to see everyone give these a try tomorrow! 🐾❤️

Okay friends… I’m calling in a SMALL BUSINESS FAVOUR.

At the beginning of the summer, I mentioned this at Walking Club: word of mouth and reviews are HUGE for small businesses like mine. Seriously. You guys sharing your experience with The Northern Collar Club does more for me than any fancy ad ever could. ❤️

And I want to show my appreciation for everyone who takes the time to support us!

If you’ve had a positive experience with me or The Northern Collar Club, I’d LOVE if you took a minute to leave us a Facebook review.

⭐ Go to The Northern Collar Club page
⭐ Click Reviews
⭐ Leave us a positive review
⭐ BOOM. You’re entered.

And as a little THANK YOU, you’ll have a chance to win:

🎁 $25 DeBrowski’s Gift Card
🐾 $25 Pet Valu Gift Card

That’s $50 worth of “I was just going in for ONE thing” money. 😂

I’ll be doing the draw at the end of the day at Walking Club! You absolutely DO NOT need to be at Walking Club to win, if you’ve left a review, you’re in!

Every review, recommendation, tag and person who says “Hey, you should call The Northern Collar Club” helps this little local dream more than you probably realize. ❤️

Thank you for supporting my slightly dog obsessed career choices, and trusting me and most of all being part of this incredible community! ❤️
