Sydney Animal Hospital

Sydney Animal Hospital This is the page for Sydney Animal Hospital, a full service veterinary clinic in Sydney, NS Please note: This page is for informational purposes only.

For individual medical advice, please contact us for an appointment. Also, while we make every effort to stay in touch with you, we generally only respond to messages during regular business hours. If you need assistance immediately, please contact us by phone. The Sydney Animal Hospital has been serving the community for over forty years. It began operations in the old K-Mart Plaza and then in 19

89, moved to its current address. In 1993, it was purchased from the Ross Ainslie Group by
Dr. Ruth Parker, who in 1996 designed and built the current hospital facility and in 1998, built the only pet crematorium on Cape Breton Island. You and your furry friends are welcome in our hospital and we know you will feel like family. We understand the importance of pets in our families and community and we strive to provide the highest quality medicine and surgery in a compassionate and caring atmosphere with the latest in advancements. We were first in Cape Breton to computerize our patient files and purchase complete in-house diagnostic equipment from IDEXX. We provided the first direct digital radiology service in all of Atlantic Canada, and recently we added digital dental radiology as well. Locally, we are the only provider of cold laser physiotherapy and laser surgery. We strive to broaden our skills as demanded by you, the pet owner. In 2006, we were the Atlantic Regional Winner of the Veterinarian Team Appreciation Award presented by Bayer Health Care and Pets Magazine.

Easter is just around the corner, and that means it's time to talk about Easter lilies.

Easter lilies are a common and popular decorative flower this time of year, but lilies and cats do not mix. Period. EVERY SINGLE PART of the lily plant is toxic to cats, from the flowers and leaves to the water it sits in. There is no safe amount.

Think your cat would never chew on a bouquet? Think again! Even grooming fallen pollen from paws is enough to cause renal failure.

So keep Fluffy safe and happy this Easter and just say no to lilies! Your kitty will thank you ❤️
