I’m napping over here!

Oscar is enjoying some quiet time, soaking up the sun on the trampoline. This is just one of the many ways our daycare dogs get to relax and reset between play sessions.

Rex came to us as a strong-willed, high-energy boy with a lot of opinions and even more personality! He had a tendency to bark, roam, and push boundaries, both at home and on leash. But underneath that big presence was a smart, affectionate dog just needing structure and clear communication.

Over the past two weeks, we worked on impulse control, leash manners, recall, and introducing the e-collar as a positive communication tool. Rex learned how to focus, decompress, and start making better choices with guidance from his handlers. Crate training helped him learn to rest and reset between activities, and his daily structure gave him the mental clarity he needed to succeed.

We’re so proud of how far he’s come in just 14 days! With continued structure at home and ongoing support, Rex is well on his way to becoming the calm, confident dog we know he can be.

Give some love to Mabel!

With her shaggy brows, soulful eyes, and sweet nature, Mabel is the definition of Old-World charm. The Spinone Italiano is a rare and remarkable breed: muscular and steady, bred for endurance in the field, but equally known for their patience, sociability, and docile spirit.

Mabel has all of that and more. She’s affectionate, a little stubborn in the most endearing way, and full of personality. Her thick, untrimmed coat is a signature of the breed, and she turns heads wherever she goes.

Fun fact: Mabel is also big sister to puppy Murdoch, and the two make quite the adorable pair. We're so lucky to have this duo as part of the Island Dog Lodge family.

Last week, Fern wrapped up her two-week training program and to say we’re proud is an understatement. She arrived full of energy and heart and left with solid foundations and a whole lot of love for her trainer.

A natural hugger, Fern’s sweet personality shone through every session. She worked hard, responded beautifully to structure, and thrived on praise and connection instead of treats.

She’s ready to carry these new skills home, and we’ll definitely miss her hugs and happy tail. Way to go, Fern!

Look at king of chill around here today, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Cooper knows how to make the most of his stay starting with a run around outside and taking a break in a comfy spot and those classic "I'm just observing" eyes.
