Keeping Cats Homed

Keeping Cats Homed We are a non-profit group of volunteers who are dedicated to trying to ensure all cats have a loving, forever home. More info on our adoption process.

We charge a $100 adoption fee which helps to offset the cost of care, veterinary care, first set of vaccinations and treatment with Revolution. If interested in adopting one of our "adoptables", an adoption application must be completed and submitted for approval. Once approved, your kitten will be held for you until the kitten is ready for adoption. When choosing a potential home for these kitten

s we want to ensure they are going to homes where they will be indoor only (in most situations), will be provided with all veterinary care required including vaccinations, spay/neuter and any follow up care required. Declawing is not permitted with any of our kittens and is in our adoption contract. The application form and contract are available on our website so please take the time to read this through before applying to ensure you are OK with our requirements prior to application. We do require all kittens to be picked up and taken home in a cat carrier for their safety. We do follow up on our kittens to ensure all requirements have been followed and all is going well as we love to see our babies grow into happy cats and members of their new homes.

🐾 Updates! 🐾

We just wanted to give you all a quick update on where we are now and the temporary closure for restructuring!

We held our first meeting last Thursday, and it was a great first step! It was wonderful to see some new faces join the conversation, and we're feeling energized and excited to get started on this new chapter.

We also wanted to let you know that we still have a few feline friends in our care. Once they're ready to find their forever homes, you'll be the first to know – keep an eye out for their adoption announcements!

Our upcoming event with the Cat Action Team is still happening! Please check out our pinned post for details, but we will be sure to share another reminder and a call for support soon. You won't want to miss this great event!

Even though our intake of new kitties is temporarily paused, we still have cats who need our care. If you're able to, we are still gratefully accepting donations to ensure we can continue to provide the best for them and hit the ground running when we're ready to open our doors to more furry friends. Every little bit helps! ❤️

Thank you all so much for your continued support, understanding, and kindness during this time. It means the world to us and the cats we care for. We'll be sure to keep you updated on all our progress!

Firstly, we want to thank you for all the kind words and support we have received on our last posts. We value the support we receive from our community.

Our first restructuring meeting will be taking place this Thursday at 7pm. If you would be interested in joining, either in-person or online, please let us know. This meeting will discuss how we start the process and where we go from here.

You will continue to hear from us throughout this time as we want to keep you up to date on our progress and the changes we are making. We cannot wait to come back stronger to help kittens in need for years to come.

💙 A Personal Message from Lori, Founder & President of KCH 💙

For those who don’t know me, my name is Lori, and I am the Founder and President of Keeping Cats Homed (KCH).

I wanted to take a moment to elaborate on today’s announcement, as I know it has raised some concerns.

Over the years, with the help of our amazing volunteers, I have poured my heart and soul into building this rescue. Every waking moment has been dedicated to ensuring that no kitten suffers and that every cat finds a loving home. But in doing so, I have completely lost myself, and it has taken a serious toll on my health. Right now, I simply cannot continue as things are.

💬 A New Path Forward 💬
After an incredible meeting today with key members of KCH, we have decided that it’s time for change. Instead of running every aspect of the rescue myself, I will step back into more of an oversight role, allowing me to regain balance in my life and focus on my health—because let’s be honest, you’re not getting rid of me that easily! 😆

To make this work, KCH must restructure. We need to create clearly defined roles and responsibilities within the organization so that no one person is left burned out, holding everything together by a thread. Just saying “I need help” isn’t enough—we need a sustainable system in place.

📝 What’s Next?
In the coming weeks, we will be meeting to create job descriptions and build a strong, supportive team of volunteers. This is crucial to ensuring KCH can continue making the impact I know we are capable of.

If KCH means something to you, we need your help. If you have ideas or would like to be part of this new structure, please reach out—we are open to suggestions and support in any form.

💔 A Difficult But Necessary Decision 💔
This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, and my heart is breaking. But I know that if I don’t make this change now, I won’t be around to help anyone at all.

Please be kind, please be understanding, and if KCH is important to you, consider how you might be able to help. Let’s get through this together.

With love and gratitude,
Lori

💔 An Important Update from Keeping Cats Homed (KCH) 💔

It is with a heavy heart that we share this news—Keeping Cats Homed will be pausing operations while we focus on restructuring our rescue. Our goal is to create a stronger, more sustainable program so we can continue helping cats in need for years to come. 🐾💙

🚨 Effective immediately, we are unable to accept any new kittens into our care. 🚨 We hope to resume intake by the end of June, but this timeline may change. We promise to keep you updated as we navigate this transition.

🙏 We know this news is difficult, and we truly appreciate your patience and support during this time. As we rebuild, we will be looking for new volunteers to help us move forward—please keep an eye on our social media for opportunities to get involved.

🐱 If you have kittens or cats that need to be surrendered, please reach out to the PEI Humane Society for assistance.

This is not an easy step for us, but we believe it is a necessary one. Thank you for standing by us—we look forward to returning stronger and continuing our mission together. 💙🐾

We're making a small change.

To help more furry friends find their forever homes, we're switching to email thank you notes and charitable receipts instead of sending physical cards. This helps us save on postage costs, and every penny saved goes directly back into caring for our cats! Your generous support means the world to us, and this change allows us to stretch those donations even further. Thank you for understanding and for being a part of our mission to give every kitten a chance!

The emails will come from [email protected] but if you can't find yours (please check your spam folder too) or need a physical one instead, just contact us and let us know.

* cat purrs and biscuits to say thank you 😊

For the Month of Love we have a very special boy - Leo.

Now Leo's life with us started out with a bit of B&E (he was outside and saw a really nice house and tried to get it) but don't worry, he is reformed and ready to find his forever home.

Below is a snapshot of the boy himself, but if you need more details you can visit our website to find out more or drop a question below!
