💙 A Personal Message from Lori, Founder & President of KCH 💙
For those who don’t know me, my name is Lori, and I am the Founder and President of Keeping Cats Homed (KCH).
I wanted to take a moment to elaborate on today’s announcement, as I know it has raised some concerns.
Over the years, with the help of our amazing volunteers, I have poured my heart and soul into building this rescue. Every waking moment has been dedicated to ensuring that no kitten suffers and that every cat finds a loving home. But in doing so, I have completely lost myself, and it has taken a serious toll on my health. Right now, I simply cannot continue as things are.
💬 A New Path Forward 💬
After an incredible meeting today with key members of KCH, we have decided that it’s time for change. Instead of running every aspect of the rescue myself, I will step back into more of an oversight role, allowing me to regain balance in my life and focus on my health—because let’s be honest, you’re not getting rid of me that easily! 😆
To make this work, KCH must restructure. We need to create clearly defined roles and responsibilities within the organization so that no one person is left burned out, holding everything together by a thread. Just saying “I need help” isn’t enough—we need a sustainable system in place.
📝 What’s Next?
In the coming weeks, we will be meeting to create job descriptions and build a strong, supportive team of volunteers. This is crucial to ensuring KCH can continue making the impact I know we are capable of.
If KCH means something to you, we need your help. If you have ideas or would like to be part of this new structure, please reach out—we are open to suggestions and support in any form.
💔 A Difficult But Necessary Decision 💔
This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, and my heart is breaking. But I know that if I don’t make this change now, I won’t be around to help anyone at all.
Please be kind, please be understanding, and if KCH is important to you, consider how you might be able to help. Let’s get through this together.
With love and gratitude,
Lori
