Rain + heat = lush pastures… and a spike in laminitis risk!

Horses with Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) or those prone to laminitis are especially vulnerable. Rich green grass can lead to higher sugar levels, which can trigger painful hoof inflammation (laminitis).

🕒 Best time to graze? Between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m.—before the sun increases sugar levels.

✅ Monitor pasture time
✅ Use a grazing muzzle if needed
✅ Consult your vet on prevention

July is Lost Pet Prevention Month!
Every year, thousands of pets go missing — and many never make it back home. Proper identification can make all the difference in reuniting lost pets with their families.

🆔 Here are some ways to help your pet find their way back:

🔹 ID Tags
Simple and effective! Make sure your pet’s collar has a tag with your current phone number and address.

🔹 Microchips
A permanent form of identification. Microchips are implanted under the skin and can be scanned at shelters and vet clinics. Just remember to keep your contact info updated with the microchip registry!

🔹 GPS Collars & Trackers
Tech-savvy? GPS-enabled collars let you track your pet’s location in real time using your smartphone.

🔹 Tattooing
Still used in some areas, especially for specific breeds or working animals. Tattoos are usually placed inside the ear or thigh and registered with an ID system.

Pro tip: Use more than one method! A collar and tag + microchip combo is a great way to ensure your pet can be identified even if one method fails.
Take a moment to check your pet’s identification—update those phone numbers and double-check microchip info. It could save a life!

✨ Bred to lure waterfowl 🦆
✨ Has a fox-like look 🦊

July is Animal Hydration Awareness Month!
With the summer heat in full swing, it's the perfect time to remind everyone just how important proper hydration is—for all animals, big and small!

🐾 Pets like dogs and cats need fresh, cool water available at all times. Try adding ice cubes or using a cooling bowl to keep things chill!
🐴 Farm animals such as horses, cattle, goats, and chickens also need constant access to clean water. Check troughs daily and provide shaded areas whenever possible.

Watch for signs of dehydration: lethargy, dry gums, sunken eyes, or reduced appetite.

Let’s all do our part to keep our animals healthy and hydrated this summer!

Did you know that 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 = 𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞?
Hoof care isn’t just about shoes and trims — it’s an essential part of your horse’s overall well-being. From preventing lameness and abscesses to maintaining proper balance and movement, regular farrier visits are a vital part of equine health.

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible farriers who work tirelessly in all weather, mud, and mayhem to keep our horses sound and steady on their feet.

Don’t forget hoof health is a team effort. Partnering with your veterinarian and farrier ensures your horse gets the best care possible — inside and out.

Tag your farrier and show them some love in the comments below!
