On behalf of the members of the St. John’s Firefighters Association, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the people and businesses of our community for the overwhelming support shown during the recent wildfires.

Your generosity—whether through donations, words of encouragement, or acts of kindness—lifted the spirits of our members as they worked tirelessly on the front lines.

This awesome little girl here is Hope. Hope wanted to do something to help our members who are fighting the fire so she donated a case of Gatorade, a case of water, a Costco gift card and an amazing card she made.Thanks so much for the help Hope everyone of us really appreciate it

Our crews would like to send along many thanks to the community for the donations of food and drinks that were brought to Mount Pearl Fire Station yesterday while crews battled the Paddys Pond wild fire. Triple C, Coffee Matters, Atlantic Cannabis, Horizon Machining Inc., Star Bucks, Tim Hortons, and a brother and sister Jayden and Laycee showed amazing generosity and thanks for our efforts. If anyone was forgotten, I apologize. Thanks everybody!

🔥 Newfoundland and Labrador is one of only two provinces in Canada that does not allow any type of wage top-up for workers injured in the line of duty.

⚠️ Firefighters can’t legally refuse unsafe work, yet are expected to run toward danger without hesitation.

❗When we’re hurt, we’re left to struggle financially — right when our families need us the most.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) anticipates posting a job competition in early September 2025. Applications will be accepted through the City of St. John’s Careers website and recruitment advisories will be posted to the City of St. John’s website, the City of Mount Pearl website, and the Town of Paradise website. 🚒
