Today's Neutrality Group Class may have been a smaller crew, but the dogs and handlers put in some great work!

Today we focused on real-world skills including red light, green light, U-turns, and parallel walking. These exercises help build engagement, loose leash walking skills, handler awareness, and most importantly, neutrality around other dogs.

A huge part of training isn't teaching a dog to interact with everything they see. It's teaching them that they don't have to.

Small class, and some fantastic progress from everyone involved.

Scout has been making fantastic progress with his loose leash walking, recall, and overall engagement, so I decided to bring along my trusty sidekick, Grizzly!

The goal was to help Scout learn that not every dog wants to play all the time and to teach him appropriate boundaries through natural dog-to-dog communication. Along the way, Grizzly helped show Scout some valuable social skills, and they even got to enjoy a swim together!

Overall, Scout did an amazing job.

Luna also had the opportunity to meet Grizzly! We focused on engagement and her heel command, both of which are coming along beautifully. I love seeing how much her engagement has improved, even with a giant dog joining us on our walk.

Compared to where she started, Luna now needs very little correction to keep tension off the leash. While she was a little intimidated by Grizzly at first, she quickly warmed up once she realized he wasn't going to trample her. 😆

I am incredibly proud of how far both Scout and Luna have come.

I'm also so thankful for Grizzly, who gets along with dogs of all sizes and personalities. He has a special talent for helping other dogs learn appropriate social skills and showing them the ropes on how to "dog." 🐾❤️
