We all know the saying “Practice makes Perfect”. In grooming Practice just makes sense. Little Gemma was an extreme case when her Mom first brought her in after adopting her. Her brain was stuck in a very frantic reactionary mode. But being a total sweetheart she would give me so many small moments of trying. She simply needed the practice. For sweet little Gemma, careful slow practice at home and at the shop, has created a much more comfortable and safe groom. Not only does her haircut look much more polished, but far more importantly she has built trust in us. Gemma has developed a lot of confidence in the grooming routine. A huge thank you to her mom for doing so much work at home and following our recommendations. It has been so rewarding to see Gemma shine. ✨
A few things we did:
-Gemma comes every 6-8 weeks. This builds consistency and routine. She is more able to recognize the steps to the grooming process. A regular grooming schedule builds familiarity with us, the tools, the noises etc. (And Gemma certainly remembers that I come with cookies 😉)
-Gemma came for a few short practice /hangout sessions. Involving cookies of course. 😆
-Gemma’s owner practiced with noises and vibrations at home as well. Including running a vibration over her, practicing with the blow dryer. And keeping her hair well maintained with a comb and brush.
All of this has led to a much safer much more relaxed appointment for Gemma. 💕 And really that’s what it’s all about 💕
🥳
-I included the dates on the profile photos! This was under a year of diligent work and a consistent schedule. (July was 2025)
