We have just listed Miguel our marmoset monkey on the website as being available to come out and participate in Zoo 2 U outings. We will of course be ever so respectful of Miguel watching how he responds to ensure that Miguel is not negatively affected by the extra attention. He has been at several larger shows now and seems to enjoy the company.

Leduc library went absolutely nuts for zoo2u appearance there yesterday. A crowd of 268 managed to enter and stay for the show while 50+ were turned away from the door. Chico the Moloccan Cickatoo did not disappoint as she kept the crowd in stitches as her and Melinda squared off in a "Who's got the floor" battle. Young and old were entertained by Melinda's assortment of furry, scaly, feathered and creepy-crawly friends.

Hi Everyone. I am back with a second tip for great Zoo 2 U birthday parties. In my last tip I suggested managing the size of the crowd to fall in line with your expectations for a great party. Today I am going to talk about photography at the party.

2. Zoo 2 U parties offer a ton of fun and excitement. There are great moments to be had and you are no doubt going to want to capture some of those moments on film. You can look back on them and share them with family and friends that weren't able to attend the party.

We are all for you taking those pictures. Please have your cameras ready with lots of available memory and batteries charged. All though phones can take some great photos these days they are not always the fastest devices. If you are going to take pictures with your phone please ensure it is one of the newer, faster devices that takes good pictures in all kinds of lighting situations.
Waiting for cameras to turn on, focus and advance can be a real drag on the party and take away from the overall experience.

While we encourage pictures we cannot afford the time to have you set up for each and every child to have their picture taken with each animal. It just is not practical. We think its imperative that you get some awesome shots of the birthday child with most of his or her favorite animals but simply cannot do that for all friends and guests at the party. If you are very serious about putting together some great photo memories of the Zoo 2 U party we suggest designating a photographer witb some good picture taking skills and a good camera. That way they can take pictures real time, capturing authentic expressions of awe and amazement as the children enjoy the animals without interupting the flow of the party.

Finally if you could share some of those fabulous pictures with us at Zoo 2 U along with permission to repost or use in some of our advertising literature we woild be most greatful. If you are going to send pictures of children that attended the party but for which you are not the guardian we would also need permission to use those photos from the guardian(s) of those children.

Hi Everyone. Fred here ( the behind the scenes guy at Zoo 2 U). Over the next little while I am going to be posting some suggestions on planning a successful Zoo 2 U party. These are based on our experiences providing service in the Edmonton area over the last six years or so. Here is the first.

1. Manage your party size:

Children love animals. And what's not to love right? They come in a variety of sizes and colors and shapes and with some real personalities. The temptation is to invite as many children as possible to maximize the outreach and fun experience for all. However, here is the rub with that. Our service provides a hands on approach with the animals. At the party all the children have the opportunity to interact with all the animals(with a couple of exceptions). While some children are only truly satisfied when it is their turn to hold the animal, most kids enjoy watching their friends interact with the animals as well. Even with that though, there is a limit to their patience and if they have to wait too long between animals they will lose focus and drift away.

We have a busy schedule and other parties we have to get too. Besides longer wait times between animals, more children at the party also means reduced interaction time with each animal. To ensure that you, your children and their friends get the best possible value from the party, we suggest a maximum of 15 participants. Ideally, holding to around 10 kids ensures that an abundance of smiles and giggles will be had by all. We have even done some very intimate family parties with some involved parents, a couple of kids, perhaps some grandparents and a close friend or two and those parties have also been very successful. It comes down to you and your children and what kind of experience you are after.
