🫣Well, the forecast in SK isn't looking great for the foreseeable future so let's look at some things you can do to get your horse-y fix and keep them healthy too!

🥶 Cold weather is a great time for ground work! Strengthen the bond between you and your horse, keep them mentally stimulated, and give them light exercise.

🥶 Organize an obstacle day! Walking horses through pool noodles, over tarps & carpets, and up and over bridges can be a great low-impact way to spend an afternoon with your horse & barn mates.

🥶 A good old paddock walk! When is the last time you bundled up and walked their paddock, pasture, turnout? Go walk the fence line, maybe clean & bed up their shelter, repair any loose boards, etc.

🥶 Stretches! Ask your local equine body worker for a list of new stretches to work on with your horse. Keeping them limber while resting during the cold weather is a great way to start a new pre/post ride habit.

❄️😰WOW! It’s cold out there, and it will be for many days this week. Here’s a reminder of the best practices for extreme cold weather care.

🥶Make sure shelters & wind breaks are in good working condition.

🥶Test heated water bowls before it’s cold out! There’s nothing worse than frozen bowls on that first -30 night.

🥶Source good quality hay - the fermentation in the hind gut while digesting roughage is a main heat source.

🥶Ensure all your blankets are clean and in good repair - especially if your horse is clipped!

🥶Limit exercise! These cold temperatures are hard on their bodies & respiratory system.

⛈️☀️They are there rain or shine, come hell or high water, +35 to -60, making sure that horses are fed, water bowls are working, stalls are cleaned, medications are given, and so much more.

❤️They get to know your horse and care for their welfare, they take pride in their high level of attention to detail, and for that - we are SO grateful.

💔It's time to officially say farewell to our dearest Chloe!

🐴This young lady has made herself and asset in the Saskatchewan horse industry as a coach and competitor. Her strong business sense, long term client retention, high standards of coaching, positive attitude, EC Competition Coach License, and her bright & sunny personality will be deeply missed around our barns.

✨She has landed a well deserved opportunity as the Riding Instructor for the Southlands Heritage Farm in Vancouver. There she will be teaching their K-7 outdoor school program and their afterschool riding lesson program.
