If you know someone who could benefit from this service, please reach out to them or assist them in getting to us!
We are just over a week away from our next Pet Wellness clinic and our team has been working hard to make this clinic another great success.
We would like to recognize the City of Sarnia for allowing us use of the Pat Stapleton Arena, which will assist us with a more organized lay-out to help with long lines! This clinic would not be possible without the help of the pawsome team of Dr Rodger Griffiths and Dr Kaitlyn Aiken, who have graciously volunteered their time to making this clinic a great success. Special thanks to Bright's Grove Animal Hospital for always stepping up to the challenge!

DEBIT, VISA, MASTERCARD AND CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Just a few reminders:
1. Dogs on leash (please make sure flexi leashes are locked into a reasonable distance, not all dogs want to make new friends)
2. Cats must be in crates
3. Please bring recent veterinary records (if you have them)
4. Prices are per pet
5. Veterinarians can only provide services listed

Pup update 🚨
🐾Joe's weight loss progress indicates a loss of 4.3 kilograms. Previously, at 5.2 kilograms, this development might suggest some muscle gain. Notably, his body condition score has reached 6.5-7. Achieving this through dietary adjustments alone, without exercise, is noteworthy. Joe's energy levels and happiness have also seen significant improvement.

🐶Laser Therapy🐱🧬

🐾Laser therapy (photobiomodulation) is a common therapy used to reduce inflammation and pain and reduces healing time. Commonly used for arthritis, wound healing, surgical incision healing, soft tissue injuries and lick granulomas, but can help with much more.

🐾Laser therapy uses light of a single wavelength ranging from visible red to infrared. It releases endorphins, causes lymphatic vessels to dilate, decreases release of inflammatory chemicals and increases blood flow, which in turn decreases pain and encourages the healing process.

🐾Laser therapy is contraindicated for treatment on eyes, over testicles, tumours, growing puppies or kittens (over growth plates) and pregnant uteri.

🐾Depending on what your pet needs laser therapy for - we have different bundles of number of treatments. Arthritis often needing multiple sessions a week and wound healing often needing a few sessions total. Speak with our veterinarian about what would be best for your pet.

Pictures featuring our technician Lily's dog, Nawloo. Nawloo wanted to show you all how fun laser sessions can be. Lily is our major advocate for multimodal therapy plans and fear free vet visits. If you want to know more about making your pets comfortable she is always up for a chat!

In addition to our newsletter yesterday about spring weight loss, come join our weight loss journey with One-Eyed Joe.

Here’s a little bit of his story: Joe came in from a reservation who kind of bounced around a little bit before ending up at Sarnia Humane Society due to being unable to afford medical care.

He came to us due to a limping front right limb, and humane wanted radiographs and bloodwork and a whole work-up. While he was in our care, one of our technicians clearly fell in love. I mean, how could you not? Look at that smiling face!

Once we did the radiographs, we saw some severe arthritic changes radiographically. We already noticed his weight was an EXTREME concern and not going to help the pain he was in and decided it was time to move on to bloodwork.

Well, the bloodwork put a wrench in EVERYTHING…. Not only was this sweet overweight boy struggling with arthritic changes and needs to lose weight to help with pain and to help with his overall health… Joe is also heartworm and Lyme disease positive. Well, that makes this so much harder. So now for weight loss, we cannot exercise as it could kill him. But if we can’t get the weight loss off, it can cause 2.5 years off his life, his arthritis will hurt more, can cause heart disease… which well doesn’t help anything, diabetes, cancers, anesthetic risks, and so much more…

So this is going to be quite a journey for Joe… The technician who fell in love now has him at home fostering him and starting this journey and would love to share it all with you. Starting with the first steps of weighing in at 48 kgs. And his first steps of heartworm treatment.

Stay tuned for monthly weigh-ins on just Royal Canin Joint Mobility Support and Satiety no exercise.

Please help us with our journey!

P.s. heart worm treatment is very expensive, and I know times are hard. We are having more and more dogs become positive this year alone. If you can help with any donations to the Sarnia District Humane Society it could help so many animals!

A little late, but here is our May newsletter!

🐾Meet Gracie🐾

This hefty lady is available through Official Sarnia & District Humane Society. Quickly upon arriving at the shelter, they realized she needed a massive spa day and to us she came! We were able to remove 1/2 a pound in matts. As well, she had an oatmeal bath and is smelling home ready!

Gracie is 16 pounds and needs a home dedicated to helping her lose weight to look and feel her best. She is what we would describe as sweet and spicy, when she's scared she'll let you know with a hiss but then quickly make it up to you with some snuggles. Gracie would most likely do well in a quiet home, with structured meal times.
