During the hot days in the summer it’s important to know when it’s too hot to walk, you can tire your dog out safely indoors using a few targeted strategies:

Popsicle Enrichment❄️🍧: Serve meals on Lickmats or in Kongs filled with wet food or plain yogurt, then freeze them to keep them occupied and cool

Indoor Hide-and-Seek🙈: Hide treats around the house for a scavenger hunt, or have them stay in one room while you hide and call their name to reward them when they find you.

Target Training🐾: Burn physical and mental energy by teaching them to touch a target (like your hand or a sticky note) with their nose, or work on tricks like "spin," "roll over," or "play dead" “paw”

A hot day doesn’t have to stand in the way of your dog’s enrichment time. There are so many exciting games, toys, and activities for you to try with your pup this summer.☀️☀️😎🍉

Everyone please keep in mind the temperatures may be soaring hot out but your pups depend on you and me to keep them safe. To keep your furry baby’s safe during this heat today and this week , please follow these rules as it’s so important as dogs do not sweat as humans do: 👏The 7-Second Rule: Press the back of your hand to the pavement for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!🚫 Skip Midday Walks: Limit outdoor time to early mornings or late evenings when it's cooler.😎Never Leave Pets in Cars: Not even "just for a minute," and not even with the windows cracked. Vehicles heat up to deadly levels in minutes.💧 Hydration Station: Always provide fresh, cool water and plenty of shade.⚠️ Watch for Overheating: Heavy, frantic panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, or bright red gums are signs of heatstroke. If you notice these, move your dog to a cool area and contact your vet immediately.

During this time I will be offering short let outs/play. Make sure you do lots of enrichment time with your pups to keep there nose and brain accupied. 🦴🍓🧠
