Wh- what are you saying, Maizy? You were just fed....

Normally I don't like talking about the competition, but I feel this is super important.

MeowCheck (and parent entity Drawbridge HomeCheck) is insured for $2 million liability. That's standard business insurance for someone like me doing what I do. I know this - I have spoken with other such services from other cities!

This is why it's so important to choose a service like MeowCheck for your cat and home check needs.

That Rover app might sound convenient and appealing, but they do not offer the same level of liability protection.

And MeowCheck doesn't cancel a visit because of school work. *wink*

Myth: Cats are aloof and don't care about humans. (false)

Fact: Almost all cats that are visited by MeowCheck are grateful for human contact!

Over the past few years, I have developed a client base of regulars whose cats have come to see me as a close family friend. It is actually rare for one of the regulars to forget who I am! They know they're about to get the best shoulder scritchies!

Even ol' Dewie here agrees. (fresh from a snack session, obviously)

Hey cat friends,

Here's a question I sometimes get asked: "Is MeowCheck insured?"

The answer is of course, YES. Using a proper insurance agent to set up business insurance is absolutely key. Unlike faceless online insurance companies, I actually have a business relationship with my insurance agent. In fact, I have known Ryan for almost 10 years now starting with our business networking days!

When booking with MeowCheck, or the formal company Drawbridge HomeCheck, you may request to see a copy of the insurance for yourself!

The questions you should ask yourself is this: does my neighbour's kid have insurance? What about a family friend? And do they have pet first aid? Do they know what to look for with ensuring your home is secure?

Be choosy with who is checking on your cats, and your home. Your home is your castle! Your cats are your family.

Entertaining your cats!

One of the most fun things you can do with your cat is use a laser pointer. Seemingly endless fun.

However, your cat needs a payday. They will grow tired of bothering with a red dot they can't seem to catch.

The best interactive toys I've ever seen has been the wand toy. You can get them at the dollar store or buy something a bit more pricey like this one I found in a Google search.

Being able to physically hunt is in their DNA. Make sure they have a wand toy!

I also recommend putting them away when not in use. Some cats may want to eat the string material or get impossibly wound up in it.

Hi cat friends,

Ok, let's make this unofficially official!

MeowCheck is now part of the Drawbridge HomeCheck service. Nothing about the current MeowCheck service will change, other than the transition from the Cattery website to the Drawbridge website. I will keep both up for some time, as I know we're all creatures of habit and I have many MeowCheck regulars!

If you are a regular, you'll find the new website to feature a simpler booking form. For those who are booking for the first time, you will find the booking experience to be quite personalized to your needs.

Drawbridge HomeCheck pledges to monitor your home for any concerns that may arise while you are away - whether you have cats or no cats! You may still have plants that need watering. Or a furnace you want to ensure isn't failing while you're gone. Or of course, the dreaded power outage that kills a refrigerator. We've had some wild wind storms already this Spring, and trees will do tree things to human-built dwellings!

I hope everyone has great plans for this summer, as I think it'll be a warm one.

Hi cat friends,

I've been enjoying visiting all of my repeat clients this year, but I'd sure like to be more busy! Let's hope you all figure out the best way to navigate this summer.

Just a quick update to say that on June 15th, 2026, I will be increasing the prices across the board by $1 per day. I feel that, given I haven't done a price increase in a while, this shouldn't be much of a burden on you folks. And of course the 10% discount on 15+ day blocks of visits still applies! So if you want to lock in at the current price list, you've got a month to get those bookings in!

I should also mention that I have a lawncare company secured for this year, so if you will be away for a bit and want your home to look like someone's home, getting the lawn done is a great way to do it!

Let's home this May long weekend doesn't let us down for weather. You know, the way it does almost every year. *laughs*

If you see these business cards on your kitchen table (because I was there recently), be sure to pass them along to your friends who leave their homes unattended for more than 3 days at a time!
