Kohkos tore up the whole backyard eating the underlying dandelion roots. I was so unbothered by it, there wasn’t a single thing she could do to upset me. Pigs will be pigs… and I will love them unconditionally

Our ducks seem to have out smarted me. I was collecting their eggs regularly. Then they started sleeping out in the pond and it was impossible to get them back in at night. I could not find any eggs., anywhere. I was wondering if they stopped laying, or is something stealing the eggs and eating them? Could the pigs be eating them?

Then our grey female duck went missing. I was worried, but she popped up one day. Then she went missing again but came for a meal the next day. It happened multiple times before we realized she was sitting on a whole bunch of eggs in a secret hiding spot. So it appears we will be expecting some cute little ducklings… someday. I couldn’t suddenly take the eggs away from her after all her hard work.

Future plans are to have separate areas for males and females. No more babies!

Poor Marv. He is our only runner duck. The older Cayuga’s started picking on him this spring. We had to separate them. Now Marv has a lump on his foot. Is it bumble foot or a callus of sorts? I have been soaking it and tried to see if I can remove the bump. No luck yet. I just ordered some drawing salve. Hopefully we can get Marv back to feeling better. His crew misses him, especially Merv who tried to attack me when I caught Marv 😂

Toby hangs out alongside the piglets fence 99.9 % of the day. I don’t know if he is feeling sad or if it is because I sneak him treats over here.

His buddy Taco is now Big Red’s buddy. The two of them are not very nice to Toby. Toby sleeps along this fence, not far from my bedroom window. The first couple nights I was really worried about him. I would wake up and ask him if he is ok. He would oink at me. I would go back to bed. They have a large field out back to go graze in, but Toby is never out there enjoying the sunshine. It may be time for Toby to come join the herd on the other side.
