Who knew keeping up with social media was so hard?! Here is what you shall see coming this weekend:

1. Videos thanking Rachael and Megan for their amazon gifts to the animals. I do have some other stuff from Christine as well. These 3 ladies went above and beyond on spoiling our animals (My apologies of I am spelling names wrong)

2. Introduce a couple of ducks who came all the way from Prince Rupert

3. Show everyone the turtle resort

4. Show everyone what our rabbit Bun Bun’s is moving into. She is getting her very own “Bundominium”

4. Introduce a beautiful dog we took in. She was one of 5 dogs desperately needing a home

5. Talk about the money raised from hoodie sales

6. I never heard back from our hoodie winner, so we may have to draw again

7. Make a video thanking everyone for their donations The pigs have received so much lately, it has truly been amazing

8. Talk about a some pigs who need a home

9. Celebrate our pigs birthdays

Tell you a little bit about our newest adventure with the sweetest lil girl pig ever (Yes, that is her in the picture!)

Hey followers. These are a few dogs looking for a forever home. Do you know anyone who may be interested?

I believe they are all female, not spayed, and haven’t had any vaccinations. The current owners loves these dogs but has sold his home and doesn’t have a home to move to.

We spent 3 days at the container market last weekend. Although it was a slow trickle of people passing through, we almost always had someone to talk to. I love hearing people say that meeting the pigs “made my day!”

Everyone learned that there is no such thing as micro pigs. They also learned that mini pigs weigh up to 300lbs. Most people were not aware that a regular pig is 600-700lbs. We talked about how pigs can only cool themselves down by laying in mud or water. Overall, teaching people about pigs was the best part of the weekend.

Would I do it again? No. Probably not. The insurance alone was $290 and that didn’t cover any accidents “pig” related. We made $80 in donations which will buy the pigs 3 bags of pig food. Honestly, the $290 would have bought us 14 bags of pig feed.

It was very interesting to hear from people about how much food is thrown in the garbage at Civic Centre Convention’s or at nearby Hotels. Just one of those places could feed all the pig’s, in turn, allowing us to help more animals.

It was also interesting to learn that Vancouver and Victoria have programs where the remaining food is passed on to farms so that the food can be used.

Prince George has a lot of catching up to do.
Prince George needs to do better.

UNBC sustainability has been trying really hard to have UNBC’s food waste donated to us, but it doesn’t sound promising. All we can do is hope for the best.

When local restaurants were asked if they would donate their food waste, most places refused because it doesn’t save them any money or it creates more work by having to sort meat from the other food scraps.

I feel defeated
I feel angry
I wish there were more people in this world who did good things for others, without any expectations or recognition for what they do.

We watched the owners of the food truck “Wings n Things” treat some senior’s and persons with disabilities to free drinks and food today. This world could use a lot more people with a good heart like them.

It has been an exhausting month. We are busy from morning until late at night. The other night I came inside after watering gardens and it was 11:19pm. Some nights I am still pig p**p scooping after dark 😂
