How long does dog waste take to decompose? Longer than most people think.

Depending on conditions, dog waste can take months to fully break down. In the meantime, it can attract pests, create odors, damage your lawn, and introduce harmful bacteria and parasites into your yard.

Just because it's eventually gone doesn't mean it isn't causing problems while it's there.

The Northumberland Humane Society is currently seeking dedicated, compassionate, and responsible individuals to join our team as Animal Care Attendants.

🐶 Full-Time and Weekend Positions Available 🐱

Qualifications:
✔ Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
✔ Valid driver's license
✔ Previous animal care experience
✔ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
✔ Comfortable handling animals of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments
✔ Strong teamwork and communication skills
✔ A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being

As an Animal Care Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing daily care, enrichment, cleaning, feeding, and monitoring of the animals in our shelter while helping them on their journey to finding loving homes.
