Today is Giving Tuesday, a day when kindness creates real change for animals in our community.

This morning we want to share the beginning of a story that touched every one of us at PHS. What started as a normal day quickly became something unforgettable. A scared dog arrived in our care the night before. By sunrise, a tiny life depended on all of us, including you.

We could not have predicted the journey that followed or how much this little pup would come to mean to her caregivers. Her name is Maggie, and her story is filled with hope, care, and the power of our community showing up for animals who need us most.

Maggie was found on a June morning as a newborn puppy. She was cold and barely moving. She needed help right away, and our team acted fast. Bottle feeds every two hours. Warmth. Medical care. And a foster home filled with patience and love. 🐶❤️

Maggie survived because our community stepped in. She is now a joyful, spirited part of a loving family, and her story is a reminder of what your support makes possible every day at PHS. 🐶❤️

This holiday season, we have a fundraising goal of $75,000 to support the growing number of animals who need urgent care. Every gift helps, and right now your donation can have twice the impact. Generous friends of PHS, Lloyd and Elaine, will match every donation up to $25,000 until December 31. 🎁

🐶 Puppypalooza is happening on Saturday, December 6 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and we are so excited! 🐶

We have 18 sweet puppies ready to meet their future families and we know our community can help each one find their perfect fur-ever home.

🐶 Here’s how you can take part:

1️⃣ Fill out an Adopter Profile on our website before Saturday, December 6
2️⃣ Let us know if you hope to meet a doodle mix puppy or a bully mix puppy. (We are not taking preferences for colour or s*x.)
3️⃣ Our team will review your application. If you are pre-approved, we will call you with your time slot for Saturday.
4️⃣ Come in to meet the puppies during your appointment and reserve your new family member.
5️⃣ Puppies will stay at PHS for their spay or neuter surgeries, then head home with you the following week.
6️⃣ If you have a resident dog and want them to meet your chosen puppy, we can book a follow up meet and greet next week.

We cannot wait to see these little ones meet the families they have been waiting for. If you have any questions, reach out to our Adoptions team or leave a comment and we will gladly help!

Tofu has gone home! ❤️ This sweet boy is officially off to his new fur ever family, and he is already living his best life. After his amputation surgery and recovery journey, seeing him head out the door with his people feels incredible!

Thank you to everyone who cheered him on and helped raise more than $1,100 toward his surgery and care. Your support helped give Tofu the chance to heal, grow stronger, and finally find a family of his own.

We are hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician and we chose a very special face to help us share the news. This is Bluey, one of our longest stay girls. She is eight years old and she has been with us since she arrived as a stray in July.

Bluey was very nervous when she first came through our doors. New places can feel overwhelming, but with patient, gentle care she has found her courage. She now leans in for cheek and head scratches and she loves to rub against you for extra affection. With continued support and steady love, Bluey will keep growing her confidence.

Bluey does have some dental disease and her future family will need to help her keep her mouth healthy, but it does not stop her from crunching her favourite treats. She would do best in a quiet home where she can feel safe and supported.

If you are an RVT who wants to be part of the team that helps animals like Bluey feel safe, cared for, and ready for their next chapter, we would love to hear from you. This full time 12 month contract position supports intakes, examinations, treatments, medications, and diagnostic work as part of our Animal Health team. Weekend and evening availability is required.
